44. But I Might Be Judging You

I say I'm not a liar,

but is that really true?

I say I'm not judgmental,

But I might be judging you.

I tell the world I'm happy

And sometimes I think I am.

But other times, I struggle

And just don't give a damn.

I like to think I'm one of those few

Who don't hate who they are.

But sometimes at night it hits me

just how far I fall short of the bar.

The bar of expectations

That people always set.

Even when we give up trying,

It can be so hard to forget.

It's always there

in the back of my mind,

Waiting to bring me down.

It drags me away

from who I want to be,

Deeper down into the ground.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Or just do nothing and

Be a silent reader.
Don't let me know you care.
Hate me or reject me.
Do whatever you think is fair.
