Epilogue (Part Two)

+Noah+

I looked at my Cupcake's beautiful face. Her beautiful face distorted with pain as we ran her to her hospital room.

"It's okay, Cupcake," I held her hand, running as fast as I could, "We're almost there. Just keep taking deep breaths."

Her harsh deep breaths ricocheted off the bland hospital walls as she heeded my advice. Crashing through the door to the hospital room, she was laid on the bed cautiously.

"I want you to push as hard as you can without straining yourself too much," the doctor said, moving to get a better view of where the baby would come out.

I rapidly ran to her side, clutching her hand in mine. Her limp hair stuck to her dripping forehead and she pushed. Her fingernails clawed at my hands, digging blood, but I didn't even flinch because I knew she was going through far, far worse pain.

"You can do it, baby," I smiled at her, moving her hair out of her face.

"I know," she gasped for air, "but it hurts," she turned to look up at me. Her eyes were brimmed with tears and a few had already fallen. Her mouth held a small, painful smile.

It broke my heart. It broke my heart to see her going through so much pain. All I wanted was for this to be over so my beautiful angel wouldn't have to experience anymore pain.

I stroked her face gently and kissed her forehead. "I know, Cupcake, but I know you can take it. You're my strong Cupcake. I love you so much."

"I love you, too," she breathed out, voice shaky.

"You're almost there." the doctor cooed, "Just a few more pushes."

Jade pushed harder, fingernails scraping deeper, fatigue clear on her face.

With one last push, the baby was out, and Jade's head lolled back as she smiled happily. A nurse picked our baby up and placed her on Jade's abdomen with a blanket under our baby girl. The nurse started to wipe the baby down.

After the procedure was finished, our baby wrapped in a blanket, Jade nestled her closer.

"She has your eyes and ears," Jade laughed.

"But the nose and mouth is yours, even the hair," I looked lovingly at our little angel. The dark tuft of hair on her little head, blue eyes drooping slightly with sleepiness, one fisted hand holding Jade's thumb.

We huddled together, completely content in this moment. In this beautiful moment.

I smiled as I remembered that memory whilst looking at the picture of Jade, Iris, and I taken on that day. We had a similar picture but two years later, with Travis, our son.

"Are you going down memory lane again?" Jade poked her head in from the porch.

She was fifty-one years young and still so gorgeous. It was hard to believe that one look from her still made my day, every kiss still made butterflies erupt, and the fact that she still made me crazy about her. I loved her so much, and every day I spent with her was another day added to my favorite days. I always felt so young around her. Love was the youth fountain, you were always young at heart, no matter your physical looks.

I laughed, the sound slightly shaky as I walked towards her and onto my rocking chair on the porch, Jade on her own one beside me. "Can you that they're already grown up?" I asked her, looking into the distant.

She set her hand on mine, still managing to send tingles up my whole being. "I can't believe that Iris is having her own baby now. I remember when I had her...feels like yesterday."

"Life is so twisted, isn't it?" I looked at Jade and she peered back with her jade green eyes, making my heart flip. "Iris married Jace, Alex and Rose's son-"

"And Travis married Christine, Liam and Emily's daughter," Jade cut me off and snickered.

I took her hand and entwined my fingers with her's, staring right into her loving eyes and kissing her hand. "Love is crazy, but it's amazing."
