Youth

Adulthood is simply childhood games wrapped in pretension
But we play it off as some glorious ascension
As if we've unlocked some parallel dimension
Or deserve some sort of honourable mention
For managing to unpause youth's suspension
Three cheers for us, now we get responsibility
Not because we've proved any sort of capability
But merely because we gave into futility
That doesn't suggest a lack of fallibility
Only that in all probability
We avoided being outliers of distributed normality
Ignoring the stark cold reality
That in all actuality
Adulthood holds a negative correlation with rationality
Don't grow up too fast is what they say
Yet they pressure us to make choices every day
Don't grow up too fast but if you may
Decide what you want to do forever today
Clinging to innocence would gain only derision
In a world where children have to make adult decisions
To analyse their lives and state with precision
The path they will take as if they have future vision
Disallowed any notion of making a recision
Forced to work and work and then work on revision
Don't grow up too fast but childhood's an illusion

Failed by the system and by humanity as a whole
Is it really such a wonder that such contradicting statements take their toll?
Adults wonder why we are such a 'troublesome' generation
But they were the ones who pulled us down to their station

We are of their creation

Y did I decide to do this? Okay. Three days left, if I fail the challenge now it'd be like giving up in the last five kilometres of a marathon.

I've totally got this.

Stick with me folks!
