She didn't kiss me, and that hurt. Not just a little bit. A heckuva lot. But I found myself understanding her. And as the night wore on I found out I'd had it all wrong.
Jan didn't need someone to swoop down and save her from Jayden. She just needed a friend, sort of like a safe house. She needed something to assure that leaving Jayden would be worth the risk. She needed someone who would fight for her life when she wouldn't.
