Chapter 10: Revelations

WITHOUT WARNING CHAPTER 10

TIME ALONE

Naruto had exited the building quietly, but as soon as his feet were out of the Tower grounds he flashed to his destination using the technique his father had once developed and used.

His feet landed softly on the roof of the Uchiha manor as he scanned the area for Sasuke. He sensed his electric chakra signature and proceeded to enter the main house from the front door.

"What do you want?" Sasuke asked. He was sitting on a couch situated in what seemed to be a living room, it had another couch similar across from it and a rectangular table situation in between the two but the house had not been furnished yet so there is not much else to see. His face was expressionless, but his tone held a warning as Naruto entered the premises of his home without permission. Sasuke had been deep in thought when he felt the blonde's chakra appear nearby and he considered it an interruption.

"I came to talk to you about the setup, the plan or whatever. How come you didn't refuse or even disagree about reviving the Uchiha with her?" Naruto asked.

Sasuke raised an eyebrow. So he wasn't against the revival itself but the woman with whom I will revive the Uchiha with. "Why should I?"

"It isn't right." Naruto insisted, clenching his fists but remaining planted in the hallway where he stood. His cerulean blue eyes were determined, and fierce.

"It benefits the future of the Uchiha to have a woman raised with breeding and a bloodline such as the Hyuuga's as a Matriarch." Sasuke answered matter-of-factly.

"Why not another Hyuuga girl then?"

"She is from the Main family." Sasuke started to feel impatient. "It will save me time from instructing her how to raise the next generation of Sharingan-wielders."

"What if she doesn't want this?" Naruto was grasping for all that he could to dissuade his friend.

"Why does it matter to you?" Sasuke leaned forward, planting his elbows on his knees and clasping his hands in front of his lips. He regarded Naruto closely, but unlike before it did not faze the Kyuubi host. But he fell quiet, unable to answer. No one in Konoha had yet to know that his childhood infatuation for Haruno Sakura had already wittled away. For a long while now, Naruto had started to develop feelings for Hinata but he was only able to completely realize it for himself shortly before the Great War had ensued -- and even more so during. He couldn't tell Sasuke yet, especially not with the precarious situation.

"It still isn't right no matter how you look at it. You're forcing her into this."

"I did not force her Naruto. The Hokage gave this order--"

"It isn't final." Naruto cut him off. "Baa-chan said it's just a contingency plan. And since when did you start caring what authorities say you should do?"

There was a short silence between the two. Sasuke broke eye contact with his friend and gestured to the couch across from him. Naruto understood and eased into the seat.

"It was starting to hurt my neck looking at you from where I sat." Sasuke muttered, crossing his arms on his chest. He wanted to save face from seeming accommodating. Naruto nodded, unwilling to shift the topic.

"This is weird to ask but..." Naruto started, unable to look Sasuke in the eyes. The Uchiha's brows knitted together for a brief second. Now he's feeling nervous? The blonde breathed deeply but still refused to look at Sasuke. "You aren't in a hurry to, uh, revive your clan, right?"

There was a short pause and Naruto found Sasuke smirking a little and shaking his head at the preposterous question.

"No, Naruto. I will not carelessly impregnate Hinata without making sure that the Uchiha manor is well prepared for the new generation of Uchiha to come." Both Sasuke and Naruto were thrown off at the use of Hinata's name as they had both been avoiding even mentioning it since the beginning -- mostly on Naruto's end. Even Sasuke had been avoiding the very term "children" as it might denote some sort of affection or compassion on his end towards his to-be offspring with Hinata. He refused to be emotionally attached, and planned to keep it that way.
