"I have a bad feeling about this."

When I get home, I'm in the worst mood possible.

My contractor quit today, and I overslept.

Plus, my home life is pissing me off every second.

I walk in the house, and all the kids are home.

Dinner isn't started and the kitchen is a mess.

I stand in the kitchen, looking around.

He couldn't at least clean up?

What happened to my marriage? Where is my romance?

You know what? I don't care.

I shake my head and grab a beer.

I'm going on strike.

Actually, I have a better idea.

I put my beer in the fridge and walk into the living room.

The kids and Spencer are in here, still in the clothes they woke up in. I look at them.

"I'm going out of town." I say. They all look up.

"What?" Spencer asks. I nod.

"I'm going on strike." I say. "So you guys can see what life is like without your maid."

"You're being fucking ridiculous." Spencer says.

"No, you are being fucking ridiculous!" I snap. "I'm going out of town."

I walk out of the living room.

Spencer

Am I raising a ton of brats?

No, I don't think so. They were the ones telling me that what I was doing was wrong.

Audrey walks into the bedroom, and fifteen minutes later, she comes back with a suitcase.

"See ya later!" She walks out, the front door slamming behind her.

I look out of my hotel window.

The beach is right outside, crystal clear waters.

I love Hawaii.

Last time I was here was twelve years ago, for my honeymoon.

I don't have to clean, I can just call room service.

This is incredible.

Spencer

"Can she do that?" Declan asks me later that night.

"What?" I ask.

"Go on strike?"

I study my son.

"Yes." I nod. The kids are all standing before me.

What the hell am I doing?

"God." I shake my head, my face contorted in disgust.

"What?" Luca asks.

"I can't remember the last time I opened her car door...or, or cleaned the house for her, or pushed her chair in. I used to be a gentlemen for my wife." I shake my head.

I'm not setting the proper example.

"Let's clean."

***

I cleaned the whole kitchen with the kids, googled how to use our washing machine, and washed every piece of clothing in the house, making sure not to accidentally dye anything.
