***Kiki's POV***

"Look Mona, I'm sorry. I don't know how many times you want me to say this, but I'm sorry." I texted back. I tilted my head back and looked at the ceiling. I felt bad enough about what had happened with Jeremy. Did she really have to lecture me about why what I had done was wrong?

Mona is my best friend in all that exists. She is always there for me and she's honest. So brutally honest. She'll always tell me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear. The problem with Mona is that she doesn't live up to her image. Everyone sees her as a hot rebel who is dangerous and you never know what she'll do next.

The truth is she's a sweet and kind girl who is way too trusting and way too forgiving. She always finds herself in awkward situations.

She’s never had a boyfriend before because guys were intimidated by her. Beauty radiated off of her. Even the most confident guys would choke up when trying to talk to her. The boyfriend she had when we were younger actually liked her but broke up with her because all of his friends kept asking creepy questions and stealing his phone and reading Mona and his conversations. He told her some pathetic lie so she wouldn't be creeped on.

Personally I think he should have stayed with her, but he did what he did.

Mona didn't have many friends because girls were jealous of her, except me of course. Well sometimes I was jealous of her but I'd never act on that jealousy. I wasn't surprised when she told me it didn't work out with Jeremy or when she told me what happened with him.

You always had to expect the unexpected when it came to Mona.

My phone beeped. I peeked at it. Mona had answered.

"No Kiki that's not it. Look at this conversation I had with Jeremy."

She had sent two pictures. They were screenshots of texts. I read them and texted her back.

Kiki: "So?"

Mona: "What do you mean so?"

Kiki: "I mean what do you want me to do about it?"

Mona: "I want you to see what a douche your boyfriend is!!!!!!!!"

I sighed and thought of the right words to respond with.

Kiki: "Mona you're my best friend and I love you but I have to agree with Jeremy on this one. You didn't tell me you had to tell me something.."

I knew Mona had had a rough couple of days, but I wasn't about to coddle her and agree to everything she said.

Mona: "I'm sorry. You're right. I should have known you would invite him. I mean what was I thinking?"

I could almost hear her sarcasm.

Kiki: "I'M SORRY FOR INVITING HIM!"

Mona: "It's ok. I mean it. I just thought you'd be on my side."

Kiki: "I'm always on your side. It's getting late. You know how my mom gets. Night Mona."

I turned off my phone without waiting for a reply. I was in my living room doing nothing. My stomach growled. I sighed and trudged towards the kitchen. There’s no use in dieting when my goals didn’t include becoming a model.

I opened the pantry and then the fridge, lowered my expectations and checked the pantry and fridge again. There was nothing good to eat. My stomach rumbled again. I looked over at the kitchen clock and saw it was almost midnight. I thought about which restaurants were open late.
