The Present

IVY'S POV

I woke up and I couldn't find Midnight next to me. I got out of bed and I looked around my room. I looked under my bed, in my closet, in my bathroom, I even checked in the drawers for some weird reason. I walked out of my room and it was dark when I got down. I felt the wall for the light switch and I flicked it on. I then heard "SURPRISE!!!!" and I nearly fell down the stairs. I looked around and Espio helped me up. I looked around and I saw a banner that said 'Happy Birthday, Ivy!' and there was a cake with sixteen candles, and presents on a table. Midnight jumped out of the pile of presents and came leaping towards me and I picked her up. Everyone was smiling and I looked at them asking,

"How did you know it was my birthday?"

Shadow came up with a dark red backpack with my name on it and he pulled out a birth certificate. I looked at it and my name said first name (Ivy) middle name (Helen), but there was no last name. I looked at the parents name and my mother's name was Helen and the father's name was only the letters C.T. and I was more confused. I looked at the certificate and I saw that my birthday IS today. I looked in the backpack and I saw a photo album, I opened it and I saw pictures of Sonic and his friends. There were also a kid with brown hair and a girl with blonde hair and underneath it was titled 'childhood friends'. I flipped the pages and I saw the same kids with sonic and his friends. But I realized that there wasn't a picture of Shadow, Solar, or Rouge. Sonic came up to me and said,

"That's............"

I looked at him and was about to ask who was it, but I saw pain in his eyes and I left it alone. I closed the album and I put it down. I looked at my clothes and I saw that I was still wearing my black shirt and green pajama pants. I ran to my room and put on my clothes and I ran outside with the others. Everyone was wearing their bathing suits and I remembered that I didn't have one. I got inside and Amy handed me a red box with a green ribbon and I opened it. Inside, I saw a purple and black bathing suit and I hugged and thanked her. I put on the bathing suit and I went back out. Shadow seemed shocked at the swim suit and he was talking to Amy. She looked at him with a funny smile and I went to the pool. I got on the diving board and I was about to jump when I felt a push from behind me. I fell in with them and it seemed like they put me on their shoulders. We got out of the water and I saw Vector was holding me on his shoulders.

"Put me down."

"Alright."

He let go and I fell backwards in the pool. Luckily, Amy gave me swimming lessons while I was in the water. In about half an hour, I was no longer sinking and I was having fun in the water with the others. I jumped off the diving board until I was floating an inch above the water. I knew I didn't call on my shadows, so I didn't know how I was floating. I looked around and I saw Silver having his hand out and part of his glove was glowing. I looked around and I was going higher and higher in the air until I could see above the woods. I was about to tell Silver to put me down gently until I saw Shadow hitting him in the head. Apparently, the hit made his powers shot off and I hung in the air for one second and I was falling down. Before I hit the water, I saw a hint of black under me and we both hit the water. I felt the slap of the water and the pressure from the water made me pass out and I saw nothing but darkness and I felt that I couldn't breathe.

SHADOW'S POV

"Alright guys," I heard Solar said, "When she gets down, we will surprise her."

It was dark down here and we were waiting for her to come out. We waited for fifteen minutes until we heard rustling upstairs. We all shut up and heard her coming down; she flipped on the lights and everyone yelled surprise. She looked around shocked and the cat went to her. She asked how we knew her birthday and I gave her the backpack that she had when she first came here. She pulled out the certificate and she looked even more confused than ever. She pulled out a photo album and she was flipping through it. I grabbed the certificate and looked at it. There was no last name and the father just had the letters C.T. and the mother was Helen. There was also no last name and I heard Sonic say,
