In a dystopian future, at the age of sixteen, young girls are shown off at elaborate balls in the hopes of being noticed by a noble or wealthy man. As a result of the favoritism of boys in countries like China, girls are considered very valuable, and the expectations for them have risen sky high. You must be perfect, in order to secure a happy and monetary-worry free life for you and your family, you must have perfect skin, blemish free, big eyes, long soft hair, and a skinny figure. The more perfect and beautiful you are, the better off you will be.
When sixteen year old Odette is sent off to the evening of her dreams, she is delighted to know she has been chosen to be with a noble, one of royal status. But when the man she is destined to marry is sick of perfection, how can she change who she is? After all, all girls want to be impeccable.
