Chapter Fifteen: Alex'll Fix It

Lottie's Point of View

Next morning was spent putting up Christmas decorations around Grimmauld Place. I heard Lupin tell Mrs Weasley that he'd never seen Sirius so happy. He was actually singing carols and willingly helping to put the tree into place. I was put on tea making duty, whilst the twins hung tinsel from the ceiling and Ginny ran about placing snowmen and reindeer shaped chocolate on any surface she could find. Lupin was sat on one of the kitchen counter's watching me intensely as I pour the kettle's old water down the drain. I'd gone back on my word about fighting with people ... Whoops, "So erm ... what time are you leaving?"

Alex's Point of View

"HERMIONE!" I yelled, "GET A BLOODY MOVE ON GIRL!"

"Alright Alex! Don't wake up the whole castle!" Hermione said irritably as she entered the common room. It was early morning on the day majority (Like, all) of students were going home for Christmas and breakfast began almost fifteen minutes ago. So we're now late and it's all Hermione's fault. I also had to give up acting as Head Girl today. It wasn't made official, but sshhhh. Don't tell anyone,

"So are you coming back with us?" I asked Hermione as we paced towards the Great Hall,

"Yes, yes I am actually." She nodded, "Mum and Dad weren't too happy, but it's not my thing."

"Skiing? Not your thing?" Hermione shook her head, "Why didn't you go just for the snow?!"

"We're not all as easily impressed as you are." She told me as we entered the hall, "Besides, I told them I was going to study, which I am going to!" She added quickly as I raised my hand to contradict her, "But I also need to sort Harry out."

"Oh great." I huffed, sitting down in my usual spot, "What's he done now?"

"Nothing. That's exactly it. He won't talk to anyone, interact or anything. Ginny says he's become a different person completely since they came back from Mungo's. Because of ... of ... because erm ... of--"

"Of what?" I asked, leaning over my plate over bacon towards Hermione opposite me. She leaned over too, and her tie almost dropped into her cereal,

"When Ginny and that got back to the ward after Fred and Lottie made up, you know about that? Right?"

"Well yeah, duh. Merlin."

"Thing is, Fred and George got the extenable ears out and ... and they think ... think You Know Who is possessing ... possessing Harry."

"No!" I exclaimed loudly throwing my fork onto the table. The noise in the hall dropped, and everyone was looking at me, "Nothing for you! Back to breakfast!" I yelled,

"I just--" Hermione began, then merely shook her head as the noise in the hall grew again.

"So is it true that Fred--"

"Is that Lottie?!" I yelled over Hermione, noticing a suspiciously familiar silhouette standing at the bottom of the hill. The shadow's head looked up when I shouted. It was Lottie, "WHOOOOOOOO!" I cheered as I ran down the hill towards her. She became clearer as the fog cleared from my sight and I got closer, and she grinned when she see me,

"You've still got a massive gob then." Lottie laughed as I stood in front of her, raising my hand and exchanging various hand slaps and fist bumps,

"She hasn't change." Hermione smiled, pointing a thumb at me as she walked past us, "If anything she's gotten louder."

"Oh great." Lottie rolled her eyes. I grabbed her sleeve and dragged her through Hogsmeade,

"Where's the twins?" I asked,

"King's Cross. Ginny, Tonks and Dad are there too." She nodded, "Oh yeah, I've erm ... got some catching up for you to do."

"Oooooooooh! Tell me!" I demanded immediately,

"Not here! On the train!" Lottie hissed, looking towards two Hufflepuff's who were walking in front of us and kept glancing at us over their shoulders,

"Got a problem?!" I shouted. They didn't look around anymore,

"Is Harry still putting himself in quarantine?" Hermione asked. Lottie nodded,

"He's literally sat in his room for the past three days. Hardly eaten, he just feeds himself and Buckbeak then goes back in his room."

"That can't be healthy." I said as we walked onto the platform,

"Lottie?!" A voice boomed. We turned and saw Hagrid looking and waving at us,

"Hey Hagrid!" She called, "When'd you get back?"

"Never mind that! What're you doing here? Should you be ... you know where?"

"Nah, I erm ... came out for some air." Lottie twiddled her fingers, "Oh! And to get these two!"

"Yeah, hey." I folded my arms,

"Well then, you girls better have a good Christmas then. I'll be seeing you around, I'm sure o' that." Hagrid nodded, then walked off down the platform towards some Ravenclaws as we boarded the train,

"Right ... here." Hermione said, turning into an empty compartment three quarters of the way down the carriage. Lottie followed suit with me being the last in. I shut the door, and we fell into our seats simultaneously,

"Aren't the other Weasley's going to be at the station?"

"Well, I mean Charlie's actually in Romania still. But Bill's at headquarters so he's there and Percy's a prick so ..." Lottie shrugged, "Mrs Weasley spends a lot of time at Mungo's and Mr Weasley's in Mungo's, therefore that only really leaves the twins. Oh, and Ron! We left him at headquarters though, in case H's come around."

"You make it sound like he's had general anaesthetic."

"He's just being a pissy lil shit." Lottie rolled her eyes like always. The train then rolled backwards slightly, before jolting and slowly picking up speed away from Hogsmeade station. I saw Lottie staring at Hogwarts as it faded into the distance,

"Well, I'm sure Harry's probably just ... got a lot on his mind." Hermione concluded, "There's a lot for him to take in."

"I just wish he wasn't so 'woe is me'. It's hit like ... nine other people too. And then there's us guys! And the rest of the erm ... erm ..." Lottie looked up to the ceiling in wonder,

"The O--" Hermione began to whisper,

"Don't tell me!" Lottie hissed. After a moment or so of anticipation, her face broke into a smile and she whispered, "Order! The Order of the erm ... Eagle?"

"Phoenix." I corrected immediately,

"Damn it!"

"Close enough." I shrugged,

"We're all down with the Weasley's too!" Lottie finished. The train had now picked up it's full speed,

"Hey."

"What?"

"Tell us then." I raised my eyebrows at Lottie,

"Tell you what?"

"You know what."

"I fell out with Dad." Lottie said easily and without a hesitation. Hermione blinked multiple times, whereas I stared blankly at Lottie and then laughed lightly,

"No, really. Come on, tell us."

"I fell out with Dad."

"But ho--"

"Please don't make me say it again." Lottie sighed wearily. She sunk backwards into her seat and sighed,

"Do you ... would you like to talk about it?" Hermione asked,

"It's not really a delicate subject." Lottie put her hand in her hair, "I just ... yeah I need to talk about it. I wanna rant. It's not fair."

"What'd he do?"

"It's not exactly what he did, it's just ... I got so upset! And frustrated!"

"When?"

"The night before last before last." Lottie sighed in reply to me. I stared at her to elaborate, "Four days ago. I know they're only ... just trying to protect me but ..."

"No relationship is perfect Lot." I nodded,

"You're not always going to have a mutual opinion. You haven't really fell out yet either, have you?"

"I was expecting it, Herm. If I'm going to be totally honest. You know, with going home earlier and everything else. I suppose it's ... rushing things. We haven't had a ton of time together yet and ... I mean I know there was most of the summer but I suppose like, almost fifteen years to not know each other is a ... it's a pretty long time."

"You've got a lot of catching up to do. Both of you." Hermione nodded, "Maybe it is that you're just rushing each other."

"No I don't ... it's not ... it isn't that." Lottie shook her head, "Look. Ginny had a bit of a nightmare on the night after we'd been to Mungo's. She'd been fine all day, and I couldn't just work it out why or what was exactly wrong so I decided to get Mrs Weasley, okay?"

"Got it."

"And as I was about to walk in, I heard Dad saying to Sirius and Mrs Weasley that he only wanted me home because he wanted me to be safe."

"Understandable." I nodded,

"But he followed with that if I was at home, I wouldn't be saying or doing something rash and getting myself hurt or into any more trouble."

"Slightly harsh."

"So I invited myself into the conversation and said 'don't you think I can look after myself?'"

"Jumped the gun then." I shook my head slowly,

"Well ... yeah, kinda." Lottie sighed, "But then Dad told me if I was at Grimmauld Place then I wasn't getting into sticky situations."

"Because of Harry?" Hermione asked, "And Umbridge?"

"I guess so." Lottie shrugged, "And we was soon almost yelling at each other."

"That quick?"

"That quick." Lottie nodded,

"That seems unfair." I shook my head again,

"That's karma."

"Karma?"

"I said I wouldn't fall out with people anymore. I lied. I did a bad thing, so a bad thing happens to me."

"If you say so." I shrugged, "So I'm right in guessing you haven't made up yet?"

"Bleh." Lottie slumped into the seats and turned her head away from us and towards the window. I sighed quietly and looked at Hermione, who's face seemed worried and as if she was expecting the story wasn't quite finished. Something was missing, I had to admit,

"Can you ... tell us what Lupin said exactly? And what you said back to him?" Hermione asked gently. Lottie sat up again,

"I came out with that they need to stop sheltering me so much, I'm of age and I can look after myself perfectly fine and properly. Lupin told me that they was the ones sheltering us all and it was for the greater good, which I can understand, and that I wasn't wise or strong enough to be part of the Order yet and not to go get myself killed and I told him I was going to join when the N.E.W.T's and that I was moving out of number 12 as soon as I finished Hogwarts and I certainly wasn't going to be going back and ... that was kind of it."

"Kind of it?" Hermione repeated,

"Dad slammed his fist on the table, I jumped and hit my back on the counter corner, began to cry and apparated up to my room." Lottie shrugged. I stared at her with an raised eyebrow,

"What about Gin?"

"She sat with me for a few then I sent her downstairs and her mum sorted her out."

"Have you started talking again?" Hermione asked,

"Well ... yeah. Not a lot, but yeah."

"About?"

"We sat down at breakfast erm ... how many days ago was it? Right so, it's four days since we went to Mungo's meaning we didn't talk about all three days ago so that's ... two days ago? Not yesterday, the day before? We sat down at breakfast and had a ... civilised conversation about it."

"And?"

"He told me that he couldn't see why I got so angry, and I told him I felt like he was protecting me too much and I wasn't happy about it."

"And?" I waved my hands about to encourage Lottie to elaborate more,

"That's it."

"That's it?" Hermione repeated, and Lottie nodded,

"That can't be it!" I exclaimed, "There has to be more to it! That's not a civilised conversation! That's just you sharing your opinion!"

"Well okay, it was sort of just me just sharing my opinion." Lottie shrugged,

"I have to agree, they do seem to be sheltering us a lot. I mean, we've all got a right to know. Especially you. You're Harry's sister, you're about the closest he's got to a family. Well, yes there is Sirius but that's only through Christening. You're half blood relation! Plus Alex and the twins have their own right because they're of age, you shouldn't be keeping you in the dark because of the factors."

"I can fully understand that it's for our own protection, I get that. But I mean, we're of age like you say and--"

"And you won't make it unless he lets you grow up." Hermione said over Lottie. She nodded,

"At the end of the day, I'm not his baby anymore. I know, I haven't really ever been but ..."

"It must be hard." I nodded. There was then a moment of silence. Lottie wiped her eyes a few times, but she never really started to cry. It wasn't nice to see her cry. Even if she could be quite over-emotional, it was harder to see her cry than just to tear up,

"Well I ... I ... I haven't got George a present! Shit!"

"Topic shift!" I grinned, "Wait! I haven't got him one either!"

"Shit!"

"Shit!"

"Alright you two! Let's calm it!" Hermione waved her hands in front of mine and Lottie's panic stricken faces, "You can't leave an important conversation on a whim like that!"

"But Hermione! Present! That I forgot about! For m-- George!"

"Yeah! That!" I defended Lottie. Hermione sighed, and slumped back into her chair. Lottie and I then entered a furious discussion on presents, including lollies, quill's and Zonko's products.

"NYMPHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEE!" I yelled, throwing my trunk off the train. It was easy to spot her in the crowd by her bubblegum pink hair,

"ALLIE!" She shouted back to me. Lottie then hopped off the train after me, stubbing her toe on my trunk. After cursing loudly, she tipped it over and was followed by Hermione who was carrying her own trunk in a perfectly normal manner. Lottie and I skipped over to the group, and the twins pulled us into a group hug. I stood awkwardly whilst three sets of arms wrapped around me and I gave a relieved sigh when they let go. I accioed my trunk and stood with my hands on my hips as it slowly floated through the crowd,

"You're coming back to 'Quarters with us, yeah?"

"I'll do whatever I wanna do, Weasley." I slowly raised my eyebrows at Fred, "What's the shit Lottie's being telling me about you?"

"Alex, it's fine. Seriously, I told you not to even b--"

"My most profound apologies, Miss Tonks. I regret my actions, but the consequences have being seen and overcome. I would therefore like to offer a generous handshake in exchange for your kind forgivness." Fred bowed, then held out his hand towards me. I curled my lip, but noticed Lottie leaning against George's side and laughing lightly, so accepted that he was over himself,

"Yeah, go on then." I shook Fred's hand,

"Well you could have gone with the theme." He said, standing up straight,

"Well you could have been a proper man." I rolled my eyes. Lupin then came around the corner of a pillar on the platform, being pulled along by a large black dog,

"You're so irritating Padfoot! I mean, c--" He stopped when he noticed the group. His face looked down when he saw Lottie and despite his efforts, he didn't hide it too well, "Alex! Hermione! You're back then!"

"Just in time too, so it sounds." Hermione sighed, "Is he any better?" Padfoot barked and shook his head,

"Come on, let's get back to Headquarters and see if we can sort everything out." Nymphie nodded. My trunk landed next to me with a bang that echoed around the station which had began to empty out,

"I mean, we need to get all this shit sorted before Christmas gets here. I'm not putting up with you miserable bozo's over my favourite holiday." Lottie rolled her eyes at me,

"Delicate."

"Well, it's only Hermione who can't apparate isn't it?" Lupin asked,

"Merlin Hermione."

"Be quiet Alex." She shook her head irritably,

"So I guess we all just ... go back on our own? I'll walk back with Padfoot--"

"I'll come with you Remus." Nymphie immediately opted herself. Lottie's eyebrows slowly became raised,

"Yes ... yes that's great. So it's just ... Alex you go with Hermione and ... twins you can ... you can take the trunks."

"Aye aye!" The twins chorused. Well they never change,

"And Lottie you ... you make sure they do it right. You are Hogwart's head girl ... after all." Lupin caught Lottie's eye, but she was soon to look away. He handed Padfoot's lead to Nymphie, who began to walk towards the exit of the station, and ending up having to drag Lupin out,

"Actually ... you .. you take Hermione and the trunks." I said, pushing her forward toward the twins, "Me and Lottie are ... we're off into town."
