Chapter Twelve: The Knife Blade

Lottie's Point of View

McGonagll had immediatly grabbed George's attention. He was stood up in a flash, "Get Ginny."

"Getting Ginny." I obeyed, also rising and heading towards the dorms. George had begun to bombard McGonagall with various questions, to which all I grasped was 'Dumbledore's office', 'gravely injured' and 'St Mungo's'. I hurried to collect Ginny, and once she had come around from her dream, got her robe and returned to the common room with me, McGonagall and the twins were not existent. Then my mind repeated McGonagall's word, "Dumbledore's office."

"I got Ginny!" I announced as we walked through the door to Dumbledore's office. McGonagall looked at me weirdly, "Sorry 'bout that."

"What is happening?" Fred demanded. He, George and Ron were standing behind a chair Ginny had just began to occupy. I sat on the arm of the chair,

"We will have to send you all home immediately. You will be going to headquarters, as I believe it would be easier for you and your mother." Dumbledore explained,

"Does she know yet?" Ron asked. The portraits were running about, disappearing then from one to another like they'd gone insane,

"The hospital should be contact with her soon." He answered. I felt like a bit of a prune since I wasn't exactly a Weasley and this wasn't anything to do with me, "You've all travelled by port key before?"

"Quidditch world cup." George told him,

"Old boot." Fred followed,

"I'll just ..." I started, then tried to crept out without drawing attention to myself,

"Colette." Dumbledore said, "I see you there."

"I was just ... leaving." I said. Dumbledore shook his head slowly,

"Remus has requested you return home this evening."

"But it's--"

"And I have allowed this to be put into action. You will be travelling back with the Weasley's and Harry tonight."

"But what about Al? And Hermione?"

"Edward has informed me that Miss Tonks shall as she wishes, regardless of whether permission is granted or not. I have decided that if she requests to return to you," He refered to us as a group, "She may. Of course, Edward knew via the Order and Nymphadora, but Miss Granger's parents have not being contacted as of yet."

"So no one has like, let her know or anything?"

"Not exactly." McGonagall shook her hand in a see saw motion, "But we all know what Alexandra is like."

"Well then, I better--"

"No. You're coming with me and the rest of us and you're going home like your dad has said to." George told me, taking me hand and assembling along with his siblings and Harry around an old kettle Dumbledore had placed in the centre of the room,

"But--"

"Shut up."

"On the count of three. One, two--"

"I really shouldn't--"

"Three." The immediate feeling of being spun around so fast that if I let go I'd fly around the earth swept over me, and it felt like a hook had gripped me by the nose and yanked them backwards. What felt like a second later, I landed on the ground. Hard. I then fell over and was staring at the ceiling of the kitchen in number twelve, Grimmald Place. George's head then collied with mine as he fell over, and it only took a moment for Harry, Ginny, Fred and Ron to fall too,

"Kids!" A voice said. I looked up and Sirius was staring at us, "What you all doing down there?"

"It was an accident!" Harry said hotly, fumbling to get up,

"Sirius, tell us what is going on." Fred demanded as he got up,

"Why do you get to do all the leading?" Ron whined,

"Because I'm the oldest."

"Your father's being taken to St Mungo's. It's all okay." Sirius sat down at the head of the table. Everyone had now managed to get back on their feet, except for Ron,

"How is it?!" Fred folded his arms,

"Look, just sit down." I told him, leaning against the table and dragging out a chair for Fred, "Right, so where's Dad?"

"Here." Lupin said as he entered the room, wrapping his arms around my shoulders,

"Okay, carry on. I'll rejoin in a moment." I said, returning Lupin's hug,

"We had to get you over here and out of Hogwarts before Umbridge started interfering!"

"She's such a big nose." I tried to comment, but Lupin's arm was muffling my speech,

"Tell me what's going on Sirius!" Harry shouted,

"Harry, calm down. All of you, sit." Sirius ordered. Lupin let go off me and I sat on the table next to where George sat next to Fred. Lupin moved two chairs up to the end of the table for Harry and Ron, whilst Ginny had sat on Fred's lap. Lupin then sat on the right of Sirius. I pulled my legs up onto the table and leant my chin in my palm.

"Are you barmy?!" Sirius yelled. I would of fell off the table, but upon further inspection of my exact location I found I was in fact laying across George's lap,

"No!" Ginny whimpered,

"You can't just--"

"No! Yes I can!" Ginny blubbered. Fred then pulled her into a hug and she cried on his shoulder,

"Oh come on Gin." I told her gently, pushing myself off of George and pulling a tissue out of the air,

"How did you--"

"I don't know." I answered Lupin, handing Ginny the tissue,

"Sirius is correct though. You can't just go apparating off to St Mungos."

"Why not?" Fred asked hotly, lifting Ginny into his chair and standing up, "He's our dad, of course we can!"

"How are you going to explain you knew Arthur had being injured then?" Lupin asked. Fred looked to be in a distressed sate from the question. I leaned up the back of the chair Ginny was now sat in. George stood up next to Fred. I noticed Ron was seated now on the rug in front of the log burner,

"We can't have you tearing about the hospital seconds after the incident! It'll be suspicious!" Sirius was almost shouting. The irritation at how the Weasley's were failing to see the situation from a logical point of view was clearly getting to him, "You can't just go in there with all your wands firing! There's gonna be questions!"

"Why couldn't someone else have told us?" Ron piped up, "It didn't have to be Harry!"

"Look, your dad was on duty for the Order and he got hurt. No one was making him do it. He knew the consequences and he was willing the risk anyway. See? The circumstances are fishy enough without having over half of his kids running about the hospital seconds after the attack, when his wife hasn't even got alerted yet."

"They haven't even let mum know!" George exclaimed disgustedly,

"They will have done, don't worry. It is more important they get your dad stable though, is it not George?" Lupin said, "We've only got two hands each."

"It's true, come on." I said, putting my hand carefully on his back. I was going to encourage George to sit back down, but he shook my hand off and I immediately accepted defeat,

"Things with the Order aren't going as to plan, and with your dad it's not going to be as easy as we--"

"Oh, we don't care about the flaming Order!" Fred shouted, "This is our dad! He could be dead right now and you won't even--"

"FINE THEN!" Sirius' voice roared through the room. It almost blew me backwards into the kitchen. Fred stood with his shoulders and feet parallel, and Sirius stood up from his seat. There was about an inch between each of them. Sirius looked almost too close to punching Fred right in the mouth, "Go! Don't expect us to be around saving your arses though!"

"Fine!"

"Guys, come on, calm down." I stood up straight and took the front seat,

"That's easy for you to say! It's not like you've got any problems!" Fred almost spat at me. I raised my eyebrows,

"I can understand you're upset and confused Fred, but it is not the time to go flying about for answers."

"Lottie, just ... stay outta this one." George told me. My eyebrows were raised even more and my mouth became ajar. Sirius had slumped back down in his seat looking darkly at the ceiling,

"Bu--"

"Come on, let's not be harsh." Harry spoke up for the first time in the whole conversation,

"Why?! Her dad's sat there and her mum's dead! What's she got to worry about?!"

The silence was deafening. I couldn't speak. I couldn't move. No one could. I felt Fred's words stabbed through me like a knife. Each word, letter, syllable. Cutting through my skin and taking a shot at any vital organ it could find. I stared forward with water blurring my vision and tears running down my cheeks. My eyes stayed locked with Fred's, who's hand was placed firmly over his mouth. A distress squeak escaped me, and I ran from the room.

I made him that way but still, Fred's a dick.
