6- My sword

"So how does Yukio know about my little sword issue? Was he there at the practice?" I asked Rin as we were walking home.

"Hm probably, or maybe one of our classmates told him."

"Yeah, it was probably that Shiemi girl. She has it out to get me..." I mumbled.

"Shiemi is sweet, why don't you like her?" Rin asked.

"Wha- oh um... It's kind of complicated."

"Whatever you say." Rin shrugged.

We finally changed our clothes and headed back towards the school.

"Ugh we have to walk.. Again."

"Quit your whining Y/N, it isn't that far."

"Can you carry me this time?" I said, giving the puppy dog eyes.

"Oh all right. But you'll have to return the favor." Rin said.

"Deal."

I jump onto Rin's back and we headed out.

Getting towards the school, we see the students already leaving since the day was over.

I wish I was at home studying but nooOooo. We have to go see Mephisto. Ughh!

Rin sets me down before we enter his office.

"Uh you wanted to see us?" I say.

"Yes, I do. Take a seat." Mephisto says.

Yukio was standing in the back of the room.

"Do you have your sword with you?"

"Yes, I never leave the house without it."

I handed Mephisto my sword.

He removed the bag and examines the opening part of the scabbard.

"I don't think this is glued but it is sealed pretty tight." Mephisto says.

"Your theory is correct Yukio."

"So I thought" Yukio said.

"What theory?" Rin asked Yukio.

"This sword will only be able to open if Y/N is focused and serious on the situation."

"And what does that mean? What if I am focused and it still doesn't open..." I said.

"To put it in simpler words, your sword must feel that you're ready to use it." Mephisto explained.

"Rin, Y/N; I need to speak with you guys outside." Yukio said.

We say goodbye to Mephisto and walked with Yukio down the hall, almost to the door of the school.

Yukio stopped.

"I have some business to attend to so you guys will be walking home alone. I trust you'll be doing your homework once you get there." Yukio said, then walked off.

"Yeah yeah whatever you four eyed mole face." Rin yelled back.

I giggled as we walked out the door. It was already dark out.

"You know, you're really mean to him." I said.

"Sticking up for him aye. What, do you have a little crush on him." Rin teased while elbowing me.

"Yeah right."

"Y/N has a crush on Yukio! Y/N has a crush on Yukio!" Rin chanted while skipping ahead of me.

"Rin wait up, it's getting dark out."

He still was skipping fast. I sighed and took my sword off my back.

'How will this sword be able to tell if I'm ready or not?' I said I'm my mind.

I heard a weird cracking noise so I picked up my speed. I flung my sword back over my shoulder.

"Rin slow down, I can't keep up." I whined.

Soon Rin was out of my sight.

I felt like someone was watching me. It really freaked me out.

"Uh Rin?" I yelled.

I started to run.

I look behind me while still running and I saw something this time.

I go to turn my head back and it was right in front of me.

The street light was bright enough for me to see details of leaves and vines.

It took its vines and wrapped it around my leg.

I felt weak as if it was draining my energy.

I tried to scream but my voice wouldn't come out.

'Where the hell is Rin?' I thought.

It threw me onto the ground and I skid.

I could already feel the stinking from all of my new road rash wounds.

I use my elbows to prop myself up and the demon thing was gone.

I managed to get myself up.

I started limping towards home again.

Rin was still nowhere to be seen.

I finally was close enough to see the door.

Rin was standing outside of it.

I look down as I got closer because I didn't want Rin to see the small tears going down my face.

He unlocks the door and I run past him.

More tears came from the amount of pain I'm feeling. I run upstairs and past all of the rooms.

I headed towards the bathroom. I forgot that the lights didn't work but the hallway gave off enough light through the window.

I tossed my sword aside and turned the shower on.

I sat down leaning my back against the wall. I stuffed my face into my knees while I felt the cold water hit my skin, cleaning my road rash.
