Chapter 24: Forgiveness

It was a new song. I stayed in hiding and listened:

"Now I've lost you forever

I'm such a hyporite

You're the best thing

I never knew I had."

I stepped further into the studio so he could see me. His eyes got really big and he stopped everything and walked up to me. It was cute seeing him so surprised. I forgot how much I missed him. I could tell how much he wanted to smile, but he just pushed it back.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I came to play you my new song, but..." I stopped.

"But what?" he said.

"But I don't think I need to," I finished.

"What's it called?" he asked.

"Hypocrite. It's being released tomorrow."

"Released? So you have a new album?" he said.

"Yeah."

"Listen, I..." we both began at the same time. We both laughed and looked away. I looked back up and he was smiling.

"Go ahead," I told him.

"You're right," he said, "I've been playing this act. I told you to trust me but I couldn't do the same to you."

"Yes, you were wrong. Dawson our entire relationship was a lie. I don't even know who you are," I said getting tears in my eyes. It was the first time I've ever said it.

"Adrianna, I never lied to you," he said.

"Then what are you hiding?!" I asked, "What was so worth losing me?!"

"I had a sister," he finally admitted.

"What?"

"Yeah, her name was Sophie," he said.

"How come nobody mentions her?" I asked.

He's one of the most famous celebrities out there. I couldn't believe no one knew he had a sister.

"We don't bring it up often," he said, "She killed herself."

"Oh my God," I said, "Dawson I'm so sorry."

"I know you are. I don't tell people. I thought about it, but then you told me your secret and..."

"I scared you," I said. This was my entire fault.

"I couldn't help thinking of Sophie. Everything kept flashing back," he said.

"That's why you didn't tell me," I said, "That's why you left?"

"Adrianna, you're the best part about me. Without you, I'm stuck down here writing sad love songs," he said.

"Is that an apology?" I asked starting to cry.

"That's more than an apology," he said putting his hand on my face to wipe off the tears.

"Baby, I'm in love with you," he said.

I rested my head against his and closed my eyes.

"I missed you calling me that," I said.

"That mean I'm forgiven?" he asked.

"Yes," I said, "I love you so much."

"Yes!" he yelled while picking me up.

I wrapped my arms around him and he kissed me like never before. Without those secrets holding us back, it was just us. His arms were securely around my waist and we stood there kissing. After a couple minutes we pulled back and he smiled at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing. I love your new look," he said.

"Thank you," I smiled back.

"Want to go tell my mom?" he said.

"She's probably still out there waiting," I laughed.

"Then let's go," he said.
