Hello everyone! This is my first long story so bear with me....
The story starts when Lucy is new so it's basically the beginning of Fairy Tail.

 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>Story Time>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I was nine years old when I joined Fairy Tail. My master taught me dark magic and shadow control. However, she used it for good. I remember her telling me that what kind of magic a wizard used didn't matter, but for what purpose they used it made them who they were.

When I was just a toddler, I was abandoned by my mother during an attack. She left me in the woods, where no one but Kira would find me. Her words kept ringing in my ears, almost every night.

'I'm sorry.'

'I love you.'

The image was still vivid in my head. My mother's kind face. Tears falling down her flushed cheeks, eyes wide with emotions swirling in them. Her soft lips on my forehead, as her tears mixed with mine. We both held on to each other, not wanting to let go. But she left. And I never saw her again.

The village was attacked by a dark guild and there hardly any survivors. Well, that's what Kira told me. She was my mother's friend- the only person alive from her past. They were more like sisters. But while Kira was a wizard, my mother was just an ordinary villager. Yet, she managed to be a hero in my heart.

After my mother left me with Kira, she rushed to help the other villagers. I don't really remember my father because he died when I just a few months after I was born. But the way my mother spoke of him, I wished I could recall his face- but I couldn't.

Years of training and I was finally able to master dark arts and shadow control magic. Master Kage- as she liked to be called on the field- also taught me how to fight without any magic or weapons.

When it came to weapons though, I loved the two daggers. They were much easier to handle and it just felt right when I fought with them in my hands. Kira had gotten a pair specially crafted for me on my seventh birthday.

It was tough at first but gradually, the pain of losing my mother grew smaller. thera was always there for me, to console and comfort me. We would mourn on the 11th of February, every year, over my mother's death, dedicating that day to her.

Then after six years of training with Kira, she left. I had woken up, just like any other day early in the morning only to find a letter folded beside me. I was afraid of what I might find in it. But curiosity got the better of me. Unfolding the piece of paper with trembling hands, I read what was written over and over again, not believing my eyes.

My dear Y/n,

Your mother would be so proud of you, just as I am. She was a close friend of mine and when she dropped you off, I felt guilty for feeling happy to have you with me as it meant that she would die. I loved your mother like a sister and I know I could never be like her. I tried but I'm sorry. Your mother was truly heroic.

You look exactly like her, Y/n. The same hair and the eyes y'all share. You will grow into such a beautiful woman. I'm sure of it. Sadly, I won't be there to see it happen. Do forgive me. I can't escape my fate, but know that you have a choice. A life- ahead of you.

There is a guild, not too far from where we live. It was the guild I had first been in. Fairy Tail. Your mother and I were childhood friends but as you know, she wasn't a wizard. She knew of magic but chose to live a simple life. Your father admired her for that. And I did too.

But I couldn't accompany her and so I left. She met me almost every week once I joined Fairy Tail. She got along well with the other wizards, teaching them more about life without magic. They thought it was remarkable- survival without magic.

Everyone loved her.

Just like they will love you. I made a mistake years ago and now I shall mend it. I want you to join Fairy Tail because that's where you belong. Meet more people like yourself and trust your friends. They will be your family.

That is all I can tell you for now. Please forgive me. And use your magic for good. Master Makarov will help you. And so will the members of Fairy Tail.

Be yourself and be brave. Just like your mother. I will always love you, Y/n. Moving on doesn't mean forgetting your past. Learn from it.

Kira

I crumpled the paper in my fist and bit my lip to keep in the sobs. She didn't mention why she left, just that she wouldn't return. I couldn't cry. I wouldn't let myself.

It was now or never. I wouldn't let Kira down. If I went to Fairy Tail just like she told me to, maybe I could find out more about her past. If I know more about her, I might just be able to find her.

It was late in the afternoon by the time I finished packing everything up. Clothes, food, water, weapons and a map I found in Kira's study. I had everything I needed. Now all I had to do was find the guild!

Tying the laces of my boots, I readied myself for a long journey ahead. A few towns and villages more and I would reach Magnolia. I looked down at the map seeing a blue dot with Fairy Tail written in microscopic handwriting above it. That's where I had to go.

It was extreme torture- the heat was immense and I felt like I was in a desert. My water had long run out and there only crumbs of bread and biscuit left. Finally my eyes rested upon a large sign that said Fairy Tail with its emblem on a flag.

As I entered, the first thing I saw was a pink haired boy and dark blue haired boy smashing their heads together and two girls that looked my age- one with white hair and the other with scarlet hair ready to kill each other. Is this what their definition of fun is? I'm so in!

With a big grin I strolled all the way towards the bar counter straight ahead of me. An old man with white hair on the sides of his head and a big mustache stared at me for a while with his brow furrowed.

"Marie," He whispered as his eyes grew wide.

"That's my mother's name!" I exclaimed surprised. I wasn't used to this. I mean, I've lived in a forest for almost all my life up until now and I had spoken to only one person for six years.

"You look just like her," he mumbled but I heard him. I handed him the slightly crumpled letter and stared at him as he read it. His large gray eyebrows met each other as he thought deeply.

"Kira. Marie," he muttered. "I want join Fairy Tail, sir!" I said with the boldest voice I had, sticking my chin up in the air slightly as I spoke.

"Very well then," He sighed and gave me a smile. "Where would you like your emblem?" He held a stamp in his hand and waited for my response.

I thought for a moment. I tried remembering the tattoo I had seen peeking out of the sleeve of her shirt. It was black in color.

"Black, sir! Over here!" I placed my palm on my upper arm and felt the stamp touch my skin. Just like Kira, I thought.

"Welcome to Fairy Tail!" The old man- Master Makarov greeted with the largest grin. Everyone around the guild cheered and I was attacked by the pink haired boy. He was a little shorter than me and smiled from one ear to the other.

"I can't wait to fight you!" He smirked, his fist hitting my shoulder.

"Bring it on!" I winked, punching him lightly in return.

It already felt like home. So warm and welcoming. But my journey was yet to begin. I was going to train everyday and try to be a better wizard and person.

I was going to find Kira. I made up my mind- However long it may take me, I would not stop looking.

So that's the first chapter... comment and like? I really love reading comments. I guess this is going to be like my first long story...so I hope you like it
