" Marina, Marina, did they get you too?"  Cherlyn grabbed my arm and pulled me close.

I looked at her sad eyes and shook my head.

" No?"  She exclaimed in surprise and backed away from me.

Her green eyes swelled up and tears began trickling down her cheeks.

" Don't... Don't tell me..."  She pointed her bony finger at me. " You...  You...  You..."

I looked down.  The truth is, I felt bad.  She was the person who got me out of trouble in the first place, she is the one who kept me out of trouble all these years.

" I...  I joined."

" YOU!  I told you to not do it.  I told you...  I told you to..."  She stuttered, her hands shaking.

Her ginger hair was tattered, her clothes were drenched with sweat, her usual burn in her eyes were gone.  The green eyes which once shone with dignity now shook with fear, fear of all the things that she was scared of when she first met me.  I was an innocent girl, about to make the deal of my life.  I was about to sign a contract that was about to change my life for the better, I was about trade my soul for something more important...  My family.

You see, when my dad was in the institute, I wasn't always allowed to see him so I always hung out with my brother and his friends from school.

Some people came and took me away from my brother and told me if I wanted my family safe, I should sign this contract to sell my soul.

But before I signed it, Cherlyn came out and stopped me.  She took me in and kinda taught me how to live life.

" How can you do this?"  She shriveled up into a small ball and wept.  " How could you do this when I told you to not do it."

I walked closer and touched her shoulder.  She shrunk, I  then tried to hand her a piece of tissue that I found in one of these pockets.

" Cherlyn, I'm sorry okay?"  I apologised to her.

Truly I was sorry but something in my heart tells me that she was already left away in my past.

" I'm not talking to you!  LEAVE!"  She shoved me against the door.

My reflexes sprung and the next moment I knew, Cherlyn was pinned onto the cold ground by me.  I then released her and backed off till my back touched the cell door.

" I'm...  I'm...  Sorry."  I opened the door and ran out.
