Father

For so many years I looked up,
To you.
So safe I would feel in your arms.
Until the day you broke my heart,
Making unkept promises.
Waiting for you.
Suitcase packed,
All day long,
I wait.
Dark, cold, waiting for a man that will never show.
Wanting nothing to do,
With the child he chose.
Why? What did I do?
All I wanted was you,
All you wanted was everything else
Long ago I gave up trying,
Who can build relationship with someone who will never change.
