I waited for him to wake up. I sat on the chair beside his bed not wanting to miss the second he wakes up. But that didn't happen. Instead there was a long steady beep. I have heard this already. This was the same sound that I heard when my mom died.
I shot straight up off my seat and faced a wide eyed, pale Ali.
"Nurse! Doctor! Somebody help!" she screamed.
I was speechless. I can't move.
About 3 nurses came in with a doctor with them. They started hovering his body.
"Please do something," Ali begged.
A nurse came towards her.
"Mam, please stay back."
I walked forward towards where he is.
"Please stay back," the nurse said to me.
They pushed us at the far end corner of the room as Ali hugged me. Silent tears were flowing from her eyes as I tried to stop them.
I can't lose him. WE can't loose him.
"Clear!"
Nothing..
"Clear!"
Still nothing.
We waited it feels like hours yet it feels like minutes as the doctor tried to revive him.
Then he stopped. Everything was silent. Silent instead of that annoying heart breaking steady beat.
"Time of death 10:42 pm."
