Thought Of Her

        Days flew by with no communication from Jordan or even Aleks, for that matter. I literally felt like my world was collapsing and I didn’t know how to handle my feelings. I rarely left my room except for obvious reasons. I knew James was worried about me but I couldn’t bring myself to do anything about what was happening in my life. My brother was exiling me from his life and Aleks refused to answer my texts.

Nothing ever works out for me. I don’t deserve what I have, even if it’s not much.

Later that night when I was home alone, there was a knock on the front door. I hadn’t been expecting James home for another little while, so I was unsure of whom it could be.

When I slowly opened the door I was shocked to see someone I didn’t recognize. The boy had dark brown hair and covered it with a grey beanie. He had a bit of scruff on his face and dark brown eyes. He held an Acoustic Guitar with the strap loosely around his neck. I was even more surprised when I saw the boy behind him however. It was my one and only… My Aleks.

“Gena…” Was all Aleks managed to get out before I jumped into his arms. Neither of us dared to move until the other boy awkwardly cleared his throat.

Aleks let me go and I gave the other boy a smile.

“Uhh... I’m Jake.” He said awkwardly, shaking my hand

“Gena.” I replied sweetly.

We entered the house and sat in the living room, Aleks and I on the couch while Jake sat in a chair

Aleks took my hand in his, and pressed it against his leg.

“Look, I know it’s been rough with Jordan but I wrote you a song. Since I’m shit at acoustic guitar, I got Jake to come play for me.” Aleks said, in a quiet voice as if embarrassed.

“Aleks…” I started but I was silenced by the soft guitar music that started playing. Aleks’ soft voice soon followed:

“Girl, I would write you a lullaby

To sing you to sleep at night

Girl, I would buy you the brightest star

If it would make you fall asleep at night

Walking on a warm summer night

Thought of her running through my mind

So if you were a sailboat floating to me lost at sea

I found something new

I said nothing, just buried my head into his warm shoulder. He touched his heated lips to the top of my head and then I felt them move to my ear so he could utter a soft

“I love you”

I said the same and cuddled back into him. The last thing I remember hearing is Jake’s faint ‘see you’ before our bodies melted together.

**AUTHORS NOTE** the song that is sung is called thought of her and is written and performed by Keaton Stromberg. I definitely recommend giving it a listen to kinda get why I put it in the story J
