I practically unhinged the backdoor when I pushed out and looked for any sign of James or Theodore around, but I was kind of unfamiliar with the area and it was dark outside so I couldn’t see anything. My insides began to turn into mush as I imagined just how furious Theo might be. Then again, why was he? I had an internal battle of who was right and wrong until I finally heard two people arguing near the streets. Score.

Hesitantly, I watched as Theo and James stood next to the motored scooter Noel and I rode together on here.

“I can’t believe he would drive her here on this thing. This is mine. That fucker must have stole it,” Theo pouted. James was standing off to the side of the motor scooter, legs crossed, and just nodding along. “Who steals other people’s things?”

Whoa, whoa, whoa. That scooter was Theo’s? No wonder I freaked out when Noel decided to pick me up in that instead of his usual flashy sedan that he drove to school. I studied the motor scooter from where I was again, and I noticed the slight details that I didn’t before. It was black with dark grey detailing, Theo’s favorite colors. It’s seat was not the regular polyester, it was covered in a sort of shaggy material that looked like the one Theo said he liked. Noel was starting to creep me out.

Without a second thought, I walked up to them, stopping them in mid conversation. Theo scowled at me and James looked like he had to take a pee.

“What are you doing here?” Theo asked. So he didn’t know I agreed to the date, he just thought I rode on his scooter?

“Well, for starters, you accused me of something, and then you just ran off without an explanation. So I think the question is, what are you doing here?” I crossed my arms and flicked my gaze over to James who looked about ready to burst. “James, do you have to take a leak or something?”

James squirmed and didn’t dare uncross his legs. “Uh, no. Uh, yeah maybe.”

Theo’s eyebrows shot up. “Dude, what’s wrong? You’re starting to freak me out.” He studied James for a little while as I rolled my eyes in complete confusion. Something dawned on Theo just then, and his grin was quite evil by the looks of it. Without hesitation, he made a grab for James’ shoulder, and James tried to dodge it, but it was too late. James was stood straight and in full view for Theo and I to see under the moonlight.

My eyes bulged out of my skull and once again, I saw James in a way I never wanted to see on anyone. I’ve been scarred.

Theo just laughed, which I thought was very mean. “James, why didn’t you tell us?”

James huffed and tried to cover up again. “Yeah, like I would announce to the world I have a fucking boner from a girl who wouldn’t even want to be seen with me in public.” He held his package away from us and began walking away.

“Then she’s not worth it!” Theo called after him. We only got James’ middle finger raised high in the air as a response.

I snorted and leant against the motored scooter, careful not to tip it over. “Since when did you become a romantic expert?”

Theo did the same on the other end of the scooter and countered, “Since when do you ride on stolen motored scooters with Noel?”

“Mmm,” I said, not trying to reveal anything. I panicked. “I didn’t know it was yours?” The statement came out as a question. What if he asks me what I was doing with Noel? What if he tells me he knows that we went out on a semi date? What if he hates me forever?
