- Avery's POV -

"You?! Are you being serious?" Cassandra exclaimed and when she saw how serious everyone was, she clamped her mouth shut.

"So what are you gonna do? Leave Mickey here and expect Avery to take care of him?" Meg spoke up, looking at Cassandra

"That was the plan, yeah" Cassandra answers frowning and I bit my lip

"But, I have school and stuff. How's this supposed to work?" I said and Cassandra rolled her eyes

"Make it work! Your a whitewolf for goodness sakes!" she said exasperated and I scoffed

"What does that have to do with anything?" I asked

"Well, it's just that you're so lucky. You're so special and shit, while the rest of us are plain old normal." Cassandra huffed

"It's not as good as you think. While you guys can shift whenever you want, I can only shift..like once a year. I have to tell people that I'm latent. I have to worry about other packs kidnapping me because they want to take advantage of my power. I'm so lucky, right?" I end off sarcastically and Cassandra stayed silent.

"So...back to the Mickey problem" Parker drawled awkwardly and I shrugged

"What can I do? I'll have to take care of him. The hard part is making him understand why his so called mother wants to leave him" I said looking pointedly at Cassandra who smirked

"That's why I'm doing it with all of you here" She announced and called out for Mickey

"Yes mommy" Mickey said as he came out of the room. I stood next to Alex and I saw that Alex was observing Mickey as if he were a creature. That made me a little mad so I elbowed him discreetly to stop.

"Ow" he groaned

"Sorry" I whispered. I guess I was angrier than I thought.

"Yeah Michael...about that...I'm not your mom" Cassandra said bluntly and Madds facepalmed

"Cassandra! What the hell...you can't just say it like that!" Ryan yelled and Cassandra shrugged

"It's like ripping off a bandaid" she said nonchalantly and I glared at her

"Just...move" I demanded as I walked over to Mickey and she scoffed before doing as I asked. I squatted down to a now confused Mickey.

"Um Mickey...I want to tell you a story. Ok?" I said and he grinned

"I love stories" he gushed as he led me to the couch. I noticed Parker leading everyone out of the room until Mickey and I were alone. Thanks for the support....note the sarcasm.

"Well, I want you to know that this story is true and also, don't interrupt me" I said in a mock stern voice as he sat on my lap.

"Yes ma'am" he tried to reply in a deep voice to which I chuckled at

"Ok so...once upon a time, there was a little boy. The little boy and his mother lived a happy life, when one day a lady rang their doorbell. The little boy's mother welcomed the lady into their house when suddenly there was a monster attack. The little boy and the lady hid in the closet but the little boy's mother was already by the monsters. The lady couldn't find the little boy's mother so she decided to take care of him. Everything was going well, until they discovered that the little boy had super cool powers!" I started the story and paused looking over at Mickey to make sure he was paying attention. He looked up confused as to why I had stopped, so I continued.

"So anyways, the little boy had really cool powers. So cool, that the lady got scared...because she's a scaredy cat. The lady and the little boy went on a journey to find the lady's...friend named Ryan because the lady thought that he could help her. Then when they arrived, the lady found out that Ryan couldn't help her. The lady was sad so she went to someone else who told her that the little boy is supposed to have a protector....like a bodyguard." I stopped to look at Mickey and he looked very focused on what I was saying
