SOPHIE’S POV

Therese patted my check some blushes. I was in awe when I look at myself in the mirror. “Thanks, Therese, ang galing mo talagang make-up artist!” I said. She smiled.

May kumatok sa pinto. Nang bumukas iyon, pumasok si Finn. “How’s the bride?” nakangiting tanong nya. Ready na rin sya. Naka-gown at make-up na.  She’s one of the bridesmaids nga pala. Nagpaalam si Therese na lalabas saglit para kunin ang naiwan nyang curlers sa van.

“Great.” I answered to Finn.

She handed something to me. “Mine and Pao’s gift for you couples.” Nagbeso sya at hinug nya ako. I hugged her back. “Nga pala, may mga bisita ka. Kailangan mo silang makita.” She said.

“Ha? Sino?” nagtatakang tanong ko. Then, she walked towards the door, telling those guests to come in.

I was shocked to see them – Jess and James. I didn’t invite them. Why are they here? Manggugulo ba sila? Oh gosh! It’s my wedding day! I don’t like it to be ruined! “What are you doing here?”

“Relax Sophie. We just wanted to say something.”

“Shoot.”

“First of all, sorry for ruining your great mood today, but we really have to see you. I’ve been hoping to tell you that I’m so sorry for everything I’ve done. Tama ka, I envy you so much kaya ko nagawa yun… at pinagsisisihan ko na lahat. I miss you so much. Alam ko hindi na maibabalik yung friendship natin dati, but… can you ever forgive me? Can you ever forgive us?”

I paused. I look at her. At James. Long silence in the room. “Time heals, Jess… and I think it healed me. Yes, you we’re forgiven.” I said, and in an instant, she’s hugging me. I hug her back. We sobbed, then the sobs turned to crying. Nagalit man ako sa kanya ng mahabang panahon, naiisip ko rin minsan na dapat akong magpasalamat. Dahil kung hindi dahil sa kanya, hindi ko alam kung ano kami ni  Lex ngayon – o kung may dadating pa bang Lex sa buhay ko. I owe it to them. Sabi nga, everything happens for a reason. God did that on purpose for me to find Lex.

“AAAHHHH!!!” someone shouted. Therese – wide-eyed. “Ano’ng nangyari sa make up mo??!! Bakit ka umiyak??!!!” she screamed.

“Oh my gosh! My make-up is ruined??!” I was in a panic state.

“Oops, sorry…” Jess said. Shocks, were going to be late!

The church, the red carpet full of rose petals, the bunch of flowers and laces, my dearest friends and family as guests, the music, and the choir singing ‘To Have and To Hold’ by Sitti and Christian Bautista. Everything’s perfect. Pero hindi magiging perpekto ang lahat kung hindi siya ang makakaharap ko sa altar – Lex. He’s standing meters away from me. Malayo pero nakita kong tensed sya pero he eventually loosened nang makita ako. I smiled at him and he smiled back.

I reached his offered hand. He bowed at dad by my side, then we walked. “Bakit ang tagal mo??” Oh, is he bragging??

“Sorry…” I just said. Not the right time to tell the long story.

“Sorry sorry ka dyan… Akala ko tinakbuhan mo na ‘ko. Kanina pa kaya ako kinakabahan… Akala ko hindi ka na sisipot eh.”

“Don’t brag. It’s our wedding, for God’s sake.” I shot him a look. Nag-aaway kami habang papunta sa altar. What a precious moment!

“Sorry…” he squeezed my hand gently.

“I would never leave you, stupid. This is for life.” I look at him. He’s looking at me already. I smiled and he did too. Hindi ko na kayang mawala si Lex sa buhay ko. Ayoko nang pakawalan yung ‘t-shirt kong limited edition’, kaya bibilhin ko na. Well, may bonus pang house and lot yun! Pero kagaya nga ng sabi ko, ayoko ng shot gun wedding kaya nagpalipas muna kami ng two months planning. Syempre, si Lex ang nagdesign ng lahat ng wardrobes at ako naman ang nag-organize. Our wedding was hailed ‘The Wedding of the Year’.

Well, si Nick naman, nakatikim ng super spunk sa’kin. Haha. Pero thankful din ako sa kanya, kundi dahil sa ginawa nya, naging forever manang na siguro ako. Paki-abangan nyo nalang yung story nila ni Kelly, okay?
