Marla Medders, Maverine Michael, Lynn Pomeroy and her twin sister Gwynn Pomeroy first met at Talladega on Aug. 8, 1976, exactly a week after Maverine turns 18. Marla and Maverine had their pilot's license.
Dave Marcis had started on the pole, and the girls were shocking. Marla was sitting next to Dick Brooks, who was a divorce' with one daughter, and they were dating a day before the race got started. Buddy Arrington, also was a divorce' with one son, also crushes Lynn, and he said he's in a relationship with miss Patsy. Gwynn was sitting next to Skip Manning, and he said he's in love with miss Gloria. Maverine was massaging with David Pearson.
The girls did not drank beer until 21, but Marla became a saint for not drinking beer. J.D. McDuffie was sitting next to Lynn and Gwynn and they talked to him before the race got started.
After the race was over, Marcis won the race, and the girls were decided to get ready for next year.
