chloe introduced serena to goh, the girl she had recently met, and who happened to be ash's friend and companion during his journeys in the kalos region. goh extended his hand, a smile spreading across his face. "it's nice to meet you, serena! i'm sorry if we weren't able to watch you and chloe's performances," he said.

serena shook her head with a smile, returning the handshake. "no need to apologize, really. i understand! ash has told me everything."

lost in his own thoughts, goh watched the three of them talk. it wasn't surprising anymore that ash would know a few people in every region they visited. but serena seemed different, though he couldn't quite pinpoint how. goh dismissed any thoughts; after all, serena's relationship with ash wasn't his concern.

he observed serena and couldn't help but notice her beauty. a sudden ache formed in his chest as he questioned himself, wondering why he was feeling this way for someone he had just met.

"oh, right. i almost forgot i actually liked ash ketchum... silly me," goh muttered to himself.

as goh's attention fixated towards serena and chloe who are conversing with ease, he couldn't shake the unease settling in his stomach, though he masked it with a polite smile.

"hey there, serena!" the group immediately turned their heads to see where the voice came from, spotting a girl approaching, walking towards serena.

"it's surprising to see that you're here. and- oh?" her gaze then landed on ash.

"hey, miette! it's been a long time," ash greeted her. miette's lips then formed a small smirk, greeting him as well.

"hi there, ash! you came back! serena, why didn't you even inform me about this?"

serena let out a small laugh. "well, it happens that i stumbled upon them just earlier today as well!"

miette's eyes then looked towards goh and chloe, who were standing there with confusion on their faces. "new companions, i see! let me introduce myself. i am miette, and serena's rival~"

goh and chloe quickly stared at each other before their gazes went back to the girl named 'miette'. serena let out a forced laugh and quickly shut her up by pulling miette closer towards her.

"s-shut up! we're done with that, aren't we?"

miette grinned mischievously. "definitely not! and since ash is back, our rivalry to see who will be the first one to steal his heart continues!"

serena sweat dropped. "u-um- you see-"

"oh, come on, feeling nervous?"

right after encountering miette, goh's attention quickly drew into the conversation between serena and miette. the moment he caught snippets of their discussion about their rivalry for ash, his mind raced with a whirlwind of emotions. he couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy at the thought of serena having feelings for ash. however, he tried to push those feelings aside, burying them deep within himself.

their conversation quickly washed away as miette decided to keep going. she whispered something in serena's ear about their competition again for ash. serena quickly pushed her away, another forced laugh coming from her. the rest of the group, except for goh, was completely clueless about what they were doing.

later, they all decided to take a break. ash quickly offered to buy snacks, and chloe decided to tag along with him. serena and goh nodded their heads while watching ash run away, chloe chasing him from behind like he's her child who would suddenly go away.
