Chapter 18

It's been a week simula ng dumating ako sa Pilipinas. Madalas akong maiwan dito sa bahay since may trabaho si Asther.

I'll be going to her work today to give her the cookies I baked for her. Wala naman akong magawa dito sa bahay kaya ang pagluluto ang pinagkakaabalahan ko. Minsan lang din naman ako tumawag sa US dahil busy din sila sa trabaho.

Pagkatapos kong ilagay sa maliit na box ang cookies, nagpasyahan kong maligo na. Sinakyan ko lang ang isang kotse.

Asther also pointed out to me where she works so I know.

When I arrived at the hospital, I went down carrying the cookies I made.

"Si Miss. Reley po?" I asked.

I approached a nurse who was passing by.

"Nasa room 10, sa 6th floor, ma'am," she replied.

I also called Asther to let her know that I'm here at the hospital. She came down immediately to meet me.

"Tara sa opisina ko, Ate," she invited me but I declined.

"May pupuntahan ako ngayon, Asther. Dinaan ko lang talaga sayo 'to," I handed her the cookies.

"Salamat, Ate," she said.

"Aalis na ako, Asther. Kita na lang tayo mamayang gabi," I bid her goodbye.

Umalis na rin ako para pumunta sa grocery. Napansin ko kasi na konti na lang ang restocks na pagkain sa ref. Mukhang hindi naman talaga umuuwi ng bahay si Asther dahil malapit na rin ma-expire ang iba.

I grabbed a cart and put in the needed vegetables and other food items. We both get irritated when they find out that we always just order food and don't cook.

I roamed around to find my favorite carrot.

There was only one left, so I was about to get it when someone else took it.

"Ako dapat ang nauna," I muttered to myself.

"Here na po," said a little girl.

I just let it go and didn't look for another carrot. I went home to organize my groceries.

Nakakapagod ang araw na 'to.

I lay down on my bed and looked at the ceiling of my room.

Paano kaya ulit kami magkikita ni Gavin? I know na sobrang busy niya.

Should I ask Asther? Mukha naman yata na wala na masyadong alam siya kay Gavin.

I stood up and got the handkerchief from my drawer, almost forgetting to return it to Zachary.

I smiled and texted Asther asking where Gavin works.

She replied quickly and told me where Gavin works. I just took a taxi. I placed the handkerchief in a paper bag.

When I arrived at the lobby, I asked about Gavin.

"Can I meet Gavin Montenegro?" I asked.

"Do you have a appointment with him, ma'am?" she asked back.

"No, pero may ibabalik lang talaga ako." I knew it would be really hard to talk to him. Ano pa nga ba ang inaasahan ko.

In the end, I still wasn't allowed to talk to Gavin.

Sinabi naman sa akin ng babae na bababa rin si Gavin para kumuha ng kape niya, and if I want to talk to him, I just have to wait.

Pero inabot na rin ako ng gabi pero hindi ko pa rin siya nakikita, halos inaantok na rin ako.
