"Zeeshann!!"

I shouted, swiftly catching him as he almost stumbled. Bhabhi trailed behind, relieved when I prevented his fall.

"Why run like that? You could've been hurt" I scolded, worried yet firm.

"He's not listening, bhaijaan. I warned him, but he still ran towards your room" bhabhi complained, her tone a mix of concern and frustration.

"Zeen, it's not polite to ignore mumma" I reminded gently, meeting his pleading gaze.

"Sorry, chachu"

he apologized, his eyes teary, but I didn't want to dull his morning spark

"Did you have your breakfast before going to school?" I inquired, and he nodded affirmatively. Spotting his untied shoelaces, I leaned down to tie them, planting a kiss on his cheek before standing. Just then, bhabhi appeared with his school bag.

"Bahadur!" she called out, as she does every day when he goes with him only to school.

"Mai bhadur Uncle ke sath nhi jaunga" he declared, moving closer to my knees, signaling he wanted me to take him.

(I won't go with bhadur Uncle)

"Zeeshan! Bohot ziddi ho gaye ho" bhabhi sighed, and Zeeshan promptly retorted.

(Zeeshan, you're becoming quite stubborn)

"Haa, zeeshan pathan apni zidd khud Puri karta hai. Haina, chachu?"

(Yes, Zeeshan Pathan fulfills his stubbornness on his own. Isn't that right, Uncle?)

I wasn't sure if I felt proud of his mimicry or was simply amused by my miniature version. Maybe he overheard me telling Bilal once,

"Sherkhan pathan apni zidd khud Puri karta hai."

(Sherkhan pathan fulfills his stubbornness on his own)

"From where did you learn this big dialogue than your whole existence?" Bhabhi asked, hands on her waist, while I tried to divert attention, pretending to be fascinated by something in the opposite direction.

"Mr Khan, would like to guess?" Ammi ji intervened, signaling my impending scolding session.

"He must have heard it somewhere. Anyway, we're getting late for school. Zeeshan, let's go"
