Chapter 21: Final Verdict

All six of them were sitting on the couches in the living room.

"Oh, my gosh, I'm so nervous, guys," Jaxon let out.

"Hey, it's going to be fine. The responses are positive so far," Declan consoled, patting his back.

"But we don't know that. There's still two hours left till midnight. What if we go back to square one?" Jaxon said.

Aurora sighed. "Then what? We will start trying from there again. You said you won't give up, remember?"

"Yes, I remember. But still..." Jaxon pouted and reached out for the last piece of cupcake. He didn't have the time to eat them after waking up because of the live online session.

Declan slapped away his hand. "You have been eating those non-stop. Will you stop now?"

"Ariel made those for me. What's your problem?" Jaxon retorted.

"My problem is, you are gonna get a stomachache from this much sugar intake. We have a performance tomorrow night," Declan rebuked.

"You are just jealous," Jaxon teased.

Declan gave him a flat look. "And why would I be?"

"Because Ariel made them for me, not you," Jaxon said in a sing-song tone.

"That..." Declan glanced at Ariel, who was looking at him with an eager look in her eyes. He looked away and glared at Jaxon. "That didn't even cross my mind. Unlike you, I'm a mature person, who doesn't get jealous over things like this."

"Sure, sure." Jaxon was about to take the last piece of cupcake, but Declan snatched it.

"But that doesn't mean you will keep stuffing yourself with these sweets," Declan grumbled as he took a bite of the cupcake.

Jaxon huffed and was about to make another comment when Cillian entered the suite and everyone went quiet.

"What's with the dead silence?" Cillian looked over at all of them.

Aurora, Davian, and Declan refused to look him in the eye and were looking away, their expressions hard.

Cillian sighed and put a few takeout bags on the coffee table. "I don't know if you guys have eaten yet or not, but I brought some food from the restaurant y'all wanted to go."

He glanced at the B4U members with a hesitant, apologetic look. "Um... I saw your live session."

"What? Now you are here to lecture us on why we shouldn't have done that without consulting our manager?" Davian taunted.

"No. You did the right thing by not consulting me," Cillian said. "Because I was way too stuck up in my head to see your emotions and I would have said no. But now that I have seen your performance, especially heard your song, I understand now. I understand how I failed to understand Jaxon's pain and was too focused on the punishment, rather than helping him out. That was not right of me. I admit my mistake, and I promise that I will do my best to convince LM to let Jaxon be a part of B4U."

He looked at Jaxon and let out sincerely, "I am so sorry, Jax, for all the harsh words. You too, Aura. I shouldn't have talked to you that way. Davian and Dee, I'm sorry as well. I hope y'all can find it in your hearts to forgive me."

Since none of them spoke up, Cillian was about to leave when something came to his mind. "Oh, Jax, I talked to your dad."

Jaxon's eyes got wide. "What?"

"He was out of the country, so he had no idea about everything that was happening. I let him know everything."

"Let him know what?" Jaxon was scared. What if his dad got disappointed with him as well? His dad was his only family, and the person his dad loved was his step-mother, which was the reason why he never found the courage to tell him the truth about how she treated him.
