Arjun was thrilled about Priya's upcoming birthday, which would make her nearly thirty five years old. For his cherished wife, he desired nothing but the best. He loved his beautiful and endearing Pru. Priya pushed him away with a playful gesture as he placed his arms around her. "Are, priy premi, tumane aisa kyon kiya? Meri dekhabhaal karana aapaki jimmedaari hai(Hey, precious lover, why did you do that? It is your responsibility to look after me.)" In response, she rolls her eyes and asks, "Mujhe yah kaise karana chaahiye? Mera graahak apane aane vaale bachcha ki nursery sajaavat ke liye apani avadhaaranaon par vyaktigat roop se charcha karana chaahega. Jab hamane vyavastha aur tiles ke baare mein baatacheet karani chaahi to aapane apane chutakulon se mera dhyaan bhataka diya. Aap vaastav mein us paagal aadami se bilkul bhi vikasit nahi hue hai(How am I supposed to do that? My customer would like to discuss in person her concepts for their approaching baby boy's nursery décor. You distracted me with your jokes when we wanted to have a conversation about the arrangement and tiles. You really haven't evolved from that insane man at all.)" He winks and laughs. "Us ladaki ka kahana hai jisaka ravaiya abhi bhi bilkul vaisa hi gusse vaala hai jaisa ki jab hum pahali baar mile the tab tha(Says the girl who still has the exact fuming attitude she did when we first met.)" She shakes her head, grinning. "Are, main aaj apani naukari saamaany se der se chodane ja raha hoon. Isalie meri prateeksha mat karo; kareeb baarah baje honge(Hey, I'm going to be later than usual leaving my job today. So don't wait for me; it will be around twelve.)" Priya nods, showing her trust in him. She kisses him on the cheek and hands him his tiffin. "Please saavadhaan rahe. Aapako yaad kiya jaega(Please be careful. You will be missed.)" Before he heads to his office, he nods. He hugs Amara as he finally notices her there. "Amu, tum bilkul nahi badale. Aapako kaisa lagata hai? Is umr mein bhi aapane abhi tak shaadi kyon nahi ki(you haven't changed at all. How do you feel? Why, at this age, have you still not tied the knot?)" In response, she adds, laughing, "Mujhe vah aadami nahi mila. Hamaara proo kaisa hai?(I haven't found the man. How is our Pru?)" "As usual, the same girl." Next, she demonstrates the design she has created for the birthday surprise. "Yah kitani shaanadaar vyavastha hai. Mujhe lagata hai ki yah avishvasaneey hoga yadi hum Pru ki kuch praarambhik varshon aur puraani tasveeron ko shaamil kare. Use apane hrday mein garmaahat mahasoos hogi(What a stunning arrangement that is. I think it would be incredible if we included some of Pruś's early years and older photos. She would feel her heart warm.)" Amara's eyes welled up with tears. "Yah vaastav mein aapake prati vichaarasheel hai. Vahaan, hum apani har yaad ko sanjokar rakh sakate hai. Aru, tum sachamuch apani patni se sachcha pyaar karate ho(That is really considerate of you. There, we can treasure every memory we have. Aru, you really truly love your wife.)" He answers, "Of course I do," nodding. "Aisi adbhut mahila ka hona mujhe jeevit sabase bhaagyashaali aadami banaata hai(Having such a wonderful woman makes me the luckiest man alive.)" They work hard at decorating and working through the rest of the night. Arjun had been pushing in a lot of overtime at work, and he frequently had to remain late to finish his party responsibilities. Priya was aware of his commitment and always graciously accepted his tardiness in returning. "I'm so sorry, Paro, lekin mujhe aaj der raat kaaryaalay chodana hoga. Hamaare project ki samay seema sakht hai(but I have to leave the office late tonight. Our project has a tight deadline.)" Priya grinned. "Yah theek hai, Arjun. Main aapake prayaas ke mahatv se avagat hoon. Jab aap ghar pahunchenge to hum aapake liye raat ka khaana taiyaar rakhenge(It's alright, Arjun. I am aware of the importance of your effort. When you arrive home, we'll have dinner ready for you.)" Even though Priya appreciated Arjun's dedication to his work, she couldn't help but feel more and more alone. Arjun began collaborating closely with Priya's college friend Amara. Meanwhile, Priya was going to take Arjun for a surprise date at night. She made the decision to stop by his place of work. She happened to walk in at the perfect moment to see something that made her feel jealous. Perched atop a ladder, Amara was dangerously perched as she struggled to grab a decoration. Arjun grabbed her as quickly as lightning steadied the ladder and caught her before Priya could respond. Priya was speaking through gritted teeth, boiling with jealousy. "Yahaan kya chal raha hai(What's going on here?)" Fortunately, Arjun had no complaints about getting to see her in the storeroom. "Hey! Main tumhe yahaan dekhakar aashcharyachakit rah gaya. Mainne Amara ko pakad liya kyonki vah girane vaali thi(I was surprised to see you here. I grabbed Amara as she was going to collapse.)" Amara felt uneasy. "Main vaastav mein isaki saraahana karata hoon, Arjun. Vah vinaashakaari ho sakata tha(I really appreciate it, Arjun. That might have been disastrous.)" Tension in their relationship was being caused by her jealousy, which was seething beneath the surface as she gave Arjun the jalebis she had prepared. She couldn't help but wonder if Arjun and Amara had a deeper relationship than he was revealing. Priya had no idea that Arjun had been meeting with Amara to work out the details of a surprise birthday celebration he was throwing for her. He wished to give his cherished wife an even more memorable day. He was sitting at a nearby cafe with Amara one afternoon, talking. Amara was thrilled with their agenda. "Aisa lag raha hai ki Arjun ki party ki yojanaen khoobasoorati se ek saath aa rahi hai. Paro sachamuch achambhit ho jaegi(Looks like Arjun's party plans are coming together beautifully. Paro is going to be really taken aback.)" Arjun was ecstatic that everything was going smoothly. "Amara, main sachamuch chaahata hoon ki usake liye sab kuch uttam ho. Vah har cheej ki hakadaar hai(I truly want everything to be perfect for her. She deserves everything.)" Priya made the decision to eat lunch outside at the same hour. She noticed Arjun and Amara seated at a table, deep in conversation, as soon as she walked into the cafe. Her heart was crushed, and she found herself making quick judgments. Priya felt a twinge of mistrust and jealousy within. "Arjun aur Amara is prakaar kyon baatacheet kar rahe hai? Kya vah aaj dopahar mere bajaay usake saath bhojan kar raha hai(Why are Arjun and Amara interacting in this way? Is he dining with her rather than me this afternoon?)" Engulfed by hurt and enviousness, Priya made the decision to walk away without saying anything to them. Her frustration and rage were evident when she got home. Ignorant of what had happened, Arjun entered and was greeted by Priya's cold silence. Arjun was perplexed by Priya's icy approach. "Parul, kya sabakuch theek hai(is everything okay?)" Priya felt wounded and angry. "Kya sabakuch theek hai? Arjun, tum mere saath aisa kaise kar sakate ho(Is everything okay? Arjun, how could you do this to me?)" Arjun finds her reply odd. "Mujhe samajh nahi aa raha hai. Maine kya kiya(I do not understand. What did I do?)" Priya accused. "You and Amara had lunch, right? Aap cafe mein the, maine dekha(You were at the cafe, I saw.)" Arjun was aware that he couldn't reveal the surprise. "Aap jaanate hain ki hum kareeb hai, hai na(You know that we are close, right?)" With fury, Priya left the room. She runs outside and starts sobbing softly in the garden. Anurag feels low as he observes her. "Kya hua, Pru? Tum aansu mein kyon ho? Main tumhe is tarah dekhakar bardaasht nahi kar sakata, tumhe pata hai(What took place, Pru? Why are you in tears? I can't stand to see you like this, you know.)" He comforted her, and she gave him a hug. "Main nahi jaanata, Anurag bhaiya. Main bas nahi jaanata(I don't know, Anurag bhaiya. I just don't know.)" Anurag attempted to hear her out. "Kyon? Aap itane krodhit aur pareshaan kyon the(Why? Why were you so angry and upset?)" She thinks back to the moments she and Arjun cherished. Then she saw Arjun and Amara having a close conversation on their date and when he had saved her. "Ye sab khatm ho gaya. Jis aadami ko main apane jeevan ka pyaar maanati thi vah keval mere saath chaale khel raha tha. Arjun ne mujhe dhokha diya. Mujhe nahi pata ki kis par vishvaas karoon(All of this is over. The man I believed to be the love of my life was only playing tricks on me. Arjun betrayed me. I have no idea whom to believe.)" Anurag soothed her, taken aback by Arjun's abrupt demeanor. "Aap jaanate hai ki cheejen hamesha vaisi nahi hoti jaisi ve dikhati hai. Shaayad Arjun bas khoye hue samay ki bharapai kar raha hai. Date par jaate samay ke vipareet(You are aware that things are not always as they seem. Perhaps Arjun is simply making up for lost time. Unlike while on a date.)" As she made her way back to the mansion, she nodded. She grinned and turned back. "Main aabhaari hoon, Anurag bhaiya. Yah ek aasheervaad hai ki mera ek bhai hai(I'm grateful, Anurag Bhaiya. That I have a brother is a blessing.)" Priya's curiosity increased as she spent more time with Amara. Seeing as how Arjun's texts were buzzing through Amara's phone, she couldn't help but feel possessive. Priya tried to sound casual. "Amara,in dino Arjun ke sabhi messages mein kya hai(what's with all the messages from Arjun these days?)" Amara trying to look innocent. "Aap dekhie, vah bas jaanch kar raha hai. Aap usaki yada-kada chinta se avagat hai(He's simply checking in, you see. You are aware of his occasional worry.)" Priya was experiencing some isolation. "Vah is vakt kaafi chintit najar aa rahe the. Yah itana mahatvapoorn kyon hai ki vah ise mere saath saajha karane mein asamarth hai(He seemed quite worried right now. Why is it so crucial that he is unable to share it with me?)" Amara makes an effort to gain rights. "Arjun vaastav mein mujhe yaad kar raha hai. Jaisa ki aap jaanate hai, hamane lambe samay se ek-doosare ko nahi dekha hai(Arjun has been really missing me. We haven't seen each other in a long time, as you know.)" Priya was secretly filled with jealousy because Arjun was her spouse. Maintaining the charade, Amara says, "Parul, chinta mat karo—yah kuch bhi nahi hai. Sambhaavana se adhik kaary-sambandhi(don't worry—it's nothing. More than likely work-related.)" Priya's jealousy grew as Amara and Arjun kept messaging each other. She couldn't help but hear Amara talking on her phone as she pondered what was going on. Amara lit up. "Arjun ke paas tumhaare liye ek aisa surprise hai jis par tumhe yakeen nahi hoga, Parul. Yah anokha hoga(Arjun has a surprise in store for you that you won't believe, Parul. It will be wonderful.)" When Priya heard this, her heart fell. "Is raaz mein main akela kyon hoon(Why am I the only one in this secret)", she wondered to herself. "Ve mujhe yah kyon nahi bata sakate ki isame itana shaanadaar kya hai? Arjun aur Amara mujhase jyaada kareeb hai(Why can't they tell me what's so fantastic about it? Arjun and Amara are closer than I am.)" Arjun suggested Priya spend the evening with her best friend Amara on the day of the celebration, telling her he had to work late. Reluctantly, believing it to be just another normal evening, Priya accepted. Priya's curiosity increased as she spent more time with Amara. She was unable to suppress her jealousy. "Arjun aur Amara itane gupt vyavahaar kyon kar rahe hai(Why are Arjun and Amara acting so secretive?)" she pondered. "Aisa kya ho raha hai ki ve mere saath saajha karane se inakaar kar rahe hai? Kya ve rishte mein hai? Agar Arjun pyaar mein tha to use usake liye apani bhaavanaon ko kyon chhipaana pada(What's happening that they refuse to share with me? Are they in a relationship? Why did Arjun have to conceal his feelings for her if he was in love?)" Arjun and their close friends, meanwhile, were occupied with hanging streamers, balloons, and a banner that said, "Happy Birthday, Paro!" in their hall.
