Belly's hands trembled as she took one of the letters from the box. The paper was yellowed and fragile, a testament to the passage of time. She unfolded it and began to read the words she had written so long ago.

The letter was filled with confessions of love, dreams of a future together, and the fear of losing what they had. Tears welled up in Belly's eyes as she remembered the depth of her feelings during that summer.

Conrad took another letter, and his voice wavered as he read aloud. "Belly, I've loved you for so long, but I was afraid to admit it. I thought it would change everything between us, and I didn't want to lose you."

The weight of their unspoken emotions hung in the air. They had been on the verge of something more than friendship, but their fear had kept them from taking that leap.
