We parked when we arrived at the airport and walked to the entrance. As we got to the first set of doors, Diego stopped.

“Maybe I should just wait here.”

“Nu-uh,” I replied, dragging him through the doors and into the airport. “You’re coming with us.”

“But I’ll mess it up and make a fool of myself.”

“No you won’t I reassured him. You need to have faith in yourself. She’s going to love seeing you.”

“No she won’t. Why would she?”

“How about, because you’re a nice person and besides, if you show her that you care enough to want to see her as soon as she gets back into the country, then she will know that you care. If she knows that you care, then she will begin to open up to you. Then it will be even easier to get her to like you.”

“Really? I never thought of it like that. Do you think it’s going to work?”

I didn’t need to think, I knew it would work. Point to the fact that I know that she is totally crazy for him as well. But I couldn’t let him know that, now could I. “Yep. Of course it will. Girls love it when they know that a guy cares for them. And you can trust that answer, because I’m a girl and I should know.”

“But what if that’s just you?” he asked.

“I’m pretty sure it isn’t, and besides, she’s told me what she looks for in a guy.”

“Really? What?!” he asked eagerly.”Please tell me, I’ll do anything.” I couldn’t help but smile at how badly he was willing to make a good impression on her. It was really sweet. I couldn’t help but wish that a guy would be that eager about me, but who am I kidding? Like that’s ever going to happen. At least I could help make it happen for Noah.

“Well, she said that she wants to know that he cares about her, and some other stuff.”

“What other stuff?” he asked, listening carefully.

Then Garrett rushed over to us, “the plane is here! She’ll be here soon.” Diego looked as if he might wet himself with nerves. “Awh, Diego. Don’t worry, it’ll be fine,” I laughed a bit as Garrett hugged him, before walking back to my mom and Aiden.

He turned to me, “Don’t get me wrong. It’s not that I don’t want to be here, I really do. I want to see her more than anything in the whole wide world, I’m just worried about how she’ll react.”

“Awh, Diego, there’s no need to worry. She’ll love to see you.” I could see that he was really worried that it wouldn’t work so I said, “How about, if you do this, then when we get back, I will tell you what else she looks for, and then as easy as spreading jam onto toast, she’s yours. Sound good?”

His eyes lit up as he nodded more eagerly than before. I couldn’t help but laugh at him. “Thank you Cassie.”

“You’re welcome,” I replied. “Now she’ll be here in a minute and I know you can’t wait to see her, so get that worried look off your face.” He smiled, failing at hiding it. “See that’s much better.”

We walked over to the others and Aiden asked, “Are you feeling better Diego?”

“Yes thank you, Cassie helped me.”

“OH MY GOSH!! HERE SHE COMES!!” screeched Garrett. I saw Diego start to shake a little and I nudged him slightly, before giving him a reassuring smile. He smiled back gently, and I saw him taking a few deep breaths. I just hoped that he wouldn’t faint, because he looked as if he might.
