Chapter 31

Some things happen at unexpected times. Some things that make you happy can be the reason for being sad.

Not all of the paths you will take will always be easy going. You always have struggles before you go to your destination but struggles are always the first step to be stronger.

Maybe some things will never go back to where they used to be but we will learn a lot of things from that.

It's Saturday today, and I was peacefully reading a book in my room. It was past seven pm in the evening when I received a call from gabe.

I answered it right away.

"Nav..." His voice cracked.

Mahina at halos pabulong na ito.

"Why, Baby?" I asked softly.

"Si Mama...sinugod ko siya sa ospital." Saad niya.

His voice is so weak, and I felt nervous.

"Ikaw lang ba ang nandiyan?" I asked him.

"Ako lang.." Sagot niya.

"Nasa'n ka? Pupuntahan kita." Saad ko.

"Nasa Trinidad General hospital kami," He replied.

"Hintayin mo ako, Gabe." Untal ko sa kaniya.

"Please, I need you, Baby..." Gabe said softly, almost whispering.

"Pasensya ka na, Nav." Sagot niya bago ko in-end ang call.

I stood up from my bed and I wore a Nike turtleneck jacket before I went out of my room.

Pagkalabas ko ng kuwarto ay nakita ko sina Mama at Papa na nanonood ng TV sa sala.

"Ma, Pa, puntahan ko lang po si Gabe." I said.

"Gabi na, ah." Papa said.

"Nasa ospital po ang Mama niya, siya lang po mag-isa." I said.

"Osige, mag-iingat ka." They said.

Mabuti na lang at hindi ako gaanong tinanong at pinayagan ako agad. Hindi naman mahigpit sa akin ang magulang ko basta ang lagi nilang bilin sa akin kapag magpapaalam ako sa kanila ay uuwi dapat akong ligtas.

Mabilis akong tumungo sa terminal ng tricycle.

My heart is trembling. Kinakabahan ako para kay Gabe at kay Tita. I know how important Tita is to him.

Malaki ang magiging epekto nito kay Gabe.

Nang makarating ako sa ospital ay tumakbo na agad ako sa room nila Gabe.

Gabe messaged to me his mom room number kaya dito na agad ako dumiretso pagkarating sa ospital.

I used the elevator, his mom's room is on the third floor of the hospital. Pagkarating sa floor nila.

I saw Gabe sitting in one of the chairs outside the room of his mom in the corridor of the hospital. Gabe's face was lowered and he was looking at the floor.

"Gabe..." Tawag ko at mabilis na lumapit sa kaniya.

Mahigpit niyang hinawakan ang mga kamay ko. He was trembling. "Nav.."

"Calm down Baby, I'm here na.." Bulong ko sa kaniya.

"Kumusta ka?" I asked him softly.

"Papa had an affair, he left us tonight.. he left Mama." His voice cracked.

Halos maluha-luha na ang lalaki. At namumula pa ang mata niya mukhang umiyak na siya kanina.

"Nahimatay si Mama and we need to take her dito, then they discovered she has cancer." He added.
