TW⚠

In the middle of the night, Severus awakes. Restless, he turns around in his bed. Giving up, he gets out of bed to brew himself some tea. On the way down, he looks in Alula's room. He can hear Castor purr peacefully. Smiling, he turns to the bed.

He freezes.

The duvet is repelled. No sight of the girl. His heartbeat raises. He knocks on the door to the bathroom. "Alula? It's me... please tell me you are in here" he announces loudly. No answer.

He pushes the handle down... it's not locked. Nobody in there. Trying to stay calm, he runs downstairs. No sight of the girl. Not in the salon, not in the kitchen, not in the laboratory, not in the garden.

'Where could she be?' he thinks. While thinking, his gaze raises to the sky. 'The stars!' the man suddenly remembers. "Where could she see the stars better?" he thinks out loud. 'The beach!' he concludes.

'Hopefully she isn't out here too long. It's freezing' he worries, while nearly sprinting to the stone stairs. "ALULA!" he yells, lightning up his wand. "ALULA!" he screams again and again, but doesn't get any response.

The only thing he can hear, is the sound of the waves. But then he discovers a dark cloak on the sand. Immediately he runs to her. Unconscious, she lies on the wet sand, a bloody knife in her hand, a letter laying on her body.

'No! Alula! Don't you dare! You promised!' he screams, taking his wand and babbles nervously any healing spells he can think of. Again and again. But her ice-cold body stays unconscious.

He cries. "Why?" he whispers, pushing a strand of hair out of her face. Never again he could look at those innocent green eyes, that remembered him so much of Lily. Never again he could love somebody, at least that were his thoughts in this dark moment.

With shaky hands, he opens the letter with her curved, neat handwriting on it.

Dear Professor,

Thank you for everything you've done for me. Don't think it wouldn't have made me the happiest person. Thank you for being there for me. Please understand that I still can't live like this. In constant fear of disappointing someone, and with a brother who despises me deeply. It's unbarrable for me, to see you in any danger. I know what my brother is capable of. I consider myself lucky to be able to learn and live from and with you, and to feel loved.Don't try desperately to blame yourself for anything. It was my free choice. I want you to have these photos of times when I was happy. And I want you to know at every time you look at them that I was as happy now only because of you, Professor.

In pure agony, he screams in the dark night, pressing her cold body tight to his chest. Over them, Ursa Major stands in full glory with the brightest star of them all.

Alula.
