Part 29: First Mission

Menma POV:

I get up at 3 in the morning.

Then I have 2 hours.

Luckily, dad is awake.

"Good morning!" I say as I jump down the stairs.

Dad hushed me, telling me mama is still asleep.

"You should be sleeping." Dad says.

"No! I have to get ready for my mission and it takes one hour to walk there!" I say.

Dad nods.

"Pack your things then and go!" Dad says and shoves me away. I chuckle.

"Yeah yeah!" I say and run upstairs and take all my shurikens and kunai knifes and much more weapons I need.

I put on my bag on my back and run downstairs.

"You have a lot of energy for being awake 3 in the morning!" Dad says, impressed.

I grin.

"I know! Bye!" I say and open the door.

Dad waves.

Then I run to where my team is gonna meet for mission!

1 hour*

When I got there, Memory and Mitsuki has also arrived. I smiled.

"Hi guys!!" I yell.

They look like they are sleeping.

I walk up to them and put my bag beside them.

I sit down beside Memory and try to wake her up.

"Mmmm let me sleeep" she whines.

I smile softly.

She is so cute.

"Memory?" I say and then she shots up her eyes and they meet mine.

It's the first time I look directly into her pale lavender eyes.

She blushes and looks away.

"Good morning." She says.

"Good morning." I say.

There was an awkward silence between us until I broke it.

"D-Did you...sleep well?" I ask.

She looks at me and smiles warmly.

"Thanks for asking. Yes I did, until the alarm got me out of my good dream." She says.

I raise an eyebrow.

"Good dream? What was the dream about?"

She blushes and looks away again.

"None of your business, Uchimaki" she says.

I chuckle.

Then I heard a groan.

I look to Mitsuki and see he has woken up. I smile and go over to him.

"Menma?" Mitsuki called out in a whisper.

I grin and kiss him gently on the lips.

"Yep, I'm here." I say.

He smiles and opens his eyes.

Then Memory walks away to a tree farther away from me and Mitsuki.

"I'm-I'm coming back soon." I say to Mitsuki.

Then I run up to her.

She is throwing shurikens and kunai knifes.

"Please don't make us repeat what happened the last time."
I say.

Then she stops her throwing and turns around.

"Do you know...how hard it is to see you two? I still have feelings for you, you know!" She yells.

Luckily, Mitsuki couldn't hear us.

She throws a kunai knife in my direction but I dodge it with a shuriken.

"Don't underestimate me. And don't make me kill you." I say.

Tears fill her eyes and she then runs away.

I stand still. Not knowing what to do.

I am the worst friend....
