A Visit and a Goodbye

"(y/n), are you okay?" Nahida asks, while she holds you in her arms. You feel tears rush down your face, a feeling of sudden emptiness falling over you. You felt the words you never got to say, weighed you down, sitting on your chest. Forcing you to stop breathing, as the tears rolled down your cheeks.

"No I'm not okay!" You say, biting back a scream, the one thing that kept your sainity in tacted, was gone in the blink of an eye, and you had the ability to stop it.
"I know, this is hard for the both of us." Nahida says, her voice soft in your ear, you wanted to push her away, but felt as if this was the closest thing to comfort.

Traveler! Traveler! Please tell me you can hear me!

You sniffle at the thought of still hearing Scaramouche, you felt as if he was in your head, trying to guide you to him. But he was gone, and you knew that. So why did it feel like he was still here.

Suddenly, Nahida's body fades, and a darkness overcomes the area around you, leaving you alone in the suffocating air.

"Traveler! Can you hear me?" Asks a figure a few paces ahead of you. The figure glowed a dark purple glow, and the shape of a big hat was placed onto of the figure. You felt yourself being pulled toward this purple light, as if it were guiding you towards a safe place. You wanted to reach up and hug it, feeling the familiarity the figure held.

"Balladeer?" You asked the figure, reaching your hand up. Your fingers clasped around the wrist of the figure, and you felt the shadow tense.

"Please don't touch me." The figure said, moving it's hand away, causing your hand to fall lifeless at your side. There was a coldness to this figure, as if, maybe this wasn't who you thought it was. As if, the figure wanted nothing to do with you except for its own personal gain.

"I need you to talk to the Lesser Lord." Scaramouche say, his eyes darting away from you. You felt the tears in your eyes become warm, when you then realized you had stopped crying.
"Of course! What do you want me to tell her?" You ask, wanting to please him in any way you can.

"Tell her to save my memory, of who I was before I disappeared. I might not be the same when I come back." He says, finally looking at you. His eyes watered, you could see him biting back tears. You shook your head, confused and dazed.

"I don't understand." You say, looking down at your hands, your head falling limp.
"You will when the time comes." He says, you hear faint footsteps walk towards you, and then Scaramouche is kneeled infront of you.

He gently pulls your chin up to face him, and you could finally see him, in full. His cheeks were glistening with colors of recent tears.
"Please remember, I love you Traveler. And I will do everything I can to return to you." He says, you felt your heart pound in your chest, butterflies filled your stomach.

"You love me?" You ask, wanting to hear the words again and again.
"Yes... I do..." His voice sounding a bit faded now when he spoke.
"I don't have much energy left, so I can't talk anymore. Please, take care Traveler." He says, you reach forward, feeling a pit growing in your stomach.

He wasn't here to check in on you, he was there to say goodbye.
"No! Don't leave me again." You shout, reaching forward to grab him and pull him close. Your hands slip through his face, as if he wasn't fully there anymore, wasn't fully solid. A smile spreads across his face, a soft and warming smile.

A smile that said "everything will be okay", but you thought otherwise. He breathed his last words in a swift responses.

"Goodbye *qīn'ài de."

*my love in Chinese (I google translated it so I'm not 100% sure)

A/N: sorry for the lack of updates, I'm not gonna give reasons, cause the reasons are too personal, but just know that I am trying! I wanted to get a short chapter out today, and then hopefully we can go back to normal updates soon!

Now to start on the next bit of the story! Haha
