I kept looking for Maria, until the late evening. I decided to go home, and hope that Maria was there. When I got home Maria was sitting at the kitchen table, Anita and Bernardo on the opposite side of the kitchen table. Oh no, they found out, Maria's done.
"Maria didn't mean too-"
"De que estas hablando?"
"Oh um, just kidding"
I forced out a laugh
"So ninas, now that your back, I will be gone tomorrow night." Bernardo said confidently.
"Where are you going?" Maria asked him, "I have some business to take care of"
He said cracking his knuckles, which obviously made me unsettled.
"Does it involve fighting?" I asked him
"That's none of your concern" He said firmly.
We got up from the table and headed into our room, I shut the door behind me.
"Where did you go today?" I asked her causally
"Oh to Valentina's" she quickly covers her mouth
"HA I knew you went to see Tony, because I saw you!" I quickly covered my mouth
Maria gasped, "You were spying on me?"
"Yes" I said confidently "I thought you trusted me" Maria grunts
"Well good thing I didn't"
"You promised me and the first thing you do is go with Tony" I crossed my arms.
"Well I'm sorry I can't help it if I'm in love"
"You just met him last night"
"So?"
I decided to not answer her, because I'm exhausted, so I stopped talking to her until we fell asleep.
(The next morning)
I got up, got changed and again Maria was gone, she was probably at Valentina's. So I headed out to Valentina's store, when I got there he was there. Riff. But I paid no attention to him and headed down to the storage room. Maria was there talking to Tony. "Come on"
I say and grab her hand. I drag her upstairs.
"Wait, Valerie" she pulls away from me. I turn back to her, "What?" I asked irritated.
"Riff, tell her"
"What nonsense did you fill my sister's head with?"
"Slow your roll, I told her where your brother is going"
"How do you know where his going?"
"Because princess, I was there, anywho it's called a rumble"
Rumble?
"What's this so called thing?"
"It's where you fight, dangerously, but we agreed on no guns or knives"
I slapped him
"WHY WOULD YOU EVER DO THAT"
"Because of you"
"Me?"
"Yes you, due to the actions of dancing with you"
"It's not like you didn't have a choice"
"Ouch, that hurts"
Tony comes up the stairs with a duffle bag
"Ready?"
"For what?" I side-eyed Maria
"Were running away" Tony says casually.
"RUNNING AWAY?" I shouted
"We want no part to do with the rumble"
"But you could try to stop it"
"Yeah I know, but you could too"
"WERE BOTH STOPPING THIS"
Maria grunts
"Well we can't go to Bernardo, he'll kill them"
"Whoa there"
"Shut up" I quickly say to Riff.
He backs off.
"The police won't believe us"
"That's right"
"I know we'll make sure these two won't show up" I whisper in Maria's ear
"that's a good idea"
"Let's go somewhere"
