Broken Smile

Third P.O.V

Richard had been betrayed so many times. Are you confused? Let's look into his past relationships. first relationship abusive and controlling. second cheated on. Third, same as the second but with his best friend. fourth Toxic. After every breakup, he was blamed. He was outcasted and bullied. After every breakup, he smiled.  Soon that became his normal. Get together with someone, Get into fights, drift apart, break up, Smile, smile some more, and break down slowly. He would repeat the same process over and over. Soon he was faking anything he could just so someone wouldn't break his smile. Sooner or later his mask was bound to break and he would be stuck in the hole he dug.

That cycle is repeated in every relationship. Until he found ava. That relationship lasted for years until she was hospitalized. Ava's father blamed Richard and forbid him from ever seeing ava again. Technically it was her father's fault because he didn't raise her to let a man take care of her, ava was raised to be independent. So when she saw Richard about to be stabbed she ran in front of him causing a 5-inch deep cut on her abdomen.  Her father screamed at Richard and blamed him for not protecting her. He tried to defend himself but every time he tried ava's father interrupted him. 

"Stay away from my daughter. It's your fault she almost died." Ava's father screamed. Ava tried to defend her boyfriend but her father wasn't listening. After Richard had left ava told her father what happened. Ava's father gasped in surprise as his daughter protected his ally's son. So he called Richard from ava's phone. Richard never picked up. He was too busy crying because he was having memories of his middle school. It was awful. Everyone would avoid and poke fun at him. Then he remembered his last relationships before ava. The first would always scream at him and call him names. 

All of his old friends were trying to help him but he always avoided them and repeated the same phrase at least 2000 times a day. Two months passed ava was trying every night to contact Richard but he never picked up. It was sent straight to voicemail. Each time a different message.

The first time it was pure screams the next it was someone struggling to breathe then it was a demonic voice. This started to terrify ava and she started to have nightmares where she was being chased by a dark black figure each time the ending was different. Some ended with Richards's screams for help. Others it was the figure transforming into Richard claiming things that weren't true and sometimes she could hear a faint demonic voice. In each nightmare, she woke up screaming or crying. It got so bad that she started to develop a fear called monophobia which is the fear or intense anxiety of being alone. She started to hallucinate. Sometimes she saw that she was in a different place others it was someone she hated in front of her. The disappearance of Richard affected her greatly. She would even have to be on the phone when in the shower or alone in her training room. Soon the activities she enjoyed started to get dusty and cobwebs were forming from the lack of use in the particular room. 

*Meanwhile with Richard*

Third P.O.V

Richard had been kidnapped and he was being held hostage to lure ava into a trap. He knew it wouldn't work but he never told the person who kidnapped him that. Little did he know ava was so desperate to see her boyfriend that she would do anything to be able to hug or even talk to him.  2 months passed and Richard was losing hope. Every night he wished and prayed that his father would come and help him. Soon those wishes turned into reality. Well, not his EXACT wishes but he was still being rescued just not the person he was hoping for. He heard ava's father's battle cry.  Richard started to laugh, the whole mafia started to look at him.  Richard kept laughing until there was frantic knocking at the door. Then he looked down and chuckles darkly saying in a demonic and deep voice. "You messed up."  Right after he said that the door was busted down and shattered to pieces. And there stood ava's father with his signature look of anger. " I'm going to give all of you 5 seconds to run before I make you leak your blood onto the floor." Ava's father said with his voice filled with venom. The mafia didn't move. Two seconds passed and one by one their blood splattered all over the walls. Only one survived and it was the leader.  As ava's dad was leaving he was almost shot by the leader but he dodged just as the bullet was about to hit him. As they left Richards's eyes started to water. He quickly tried to cover it up. 

But it was as if the mask had broken into shards it was so cracked.  That was when Richard started to break. Bit by bit tear by tear his walls crumbled till there was nothing left.  Ava's father wasn't the type who would know how to comfort someone like this. So he wrapped his arms around Richard and let Richard's tears soak his jacket while saying comforting words. 

Ava's P.O.V. 

Richard's family had come over to watch over me and make sure I was safe. I heard keys jingle and the door open and slam shut. Everyone rushed over. " Neito, Por queue tienes los ojos tan hinchados? Lo queue le sucedio duglas!" Richard's grandmother screamed. My father looked confused and looked at me because I took Spanish for 4 years. I bowed as I apologized Lo siento por mi padre, el no habla espanol. Podrias decirme lo queue queries decir? She repeated herself and I translated. Father, she was asking what happened to Richard. He explained through Richards father.  Richards grandmother had to be held back inonrder for duglas ava's father to not feel her rath.
