But none of you are gonna die, okay? Okay?

Like Robin said. It might not work out for us this time.

JAYDEN SAT QUIETLY IN the back of the RV, staring out the window while The Smiths blasted in her ears.

Tears kept going and going. She hadn't wanted the group to hear the argument. She thought it would end in the house but then it just kept going.

And going.

She wanted to dig a little hole to crawl into and never come out as her mothers words replayed in her head.

"Go run off with that group of freaks that your friends with, I don't need my dyke of a daughter to come back here anyways!"

Good thing she wasn't planning on coming back anyways. If it was between her and Max she sure as hell wasn't letting Max go out.

The bench she sat in shifted, Jayden looked over to see Max who sat in front of her. She removed her headphones and looked at the red-head, waiting for her to speak. "I'm sorry." Max finally said. Jayden shook her head. "I really don't want to talk about it, please. I just wanna bait Vecna and have him die." She muttered, looking away from her ex-girlfriend. Max nodded.

"I'm baiting him, you know that." Max tried to switch the roles. Jayden shook her head. "No. I am. Max you're not getting hurt." The Harrington girl turned back to Max. "Don't fight me on this—"

"Jayden, no. Okay? It's ether we both go or none of us." She decided. Jayden nodded. "Fine." She looked away from Max again.

Max sighed. "He uses our memories against us. But only the darkest ones. Same with Chrissy and Fred and you, right?" Jayden hummed in agreement. "It's like he only sees the darkness in us. So we just run in the opposite direction." Max was not getting to her plan. "Run to the light. And maybe he won't be able to find you or me there."

"How exactly do we do that?" Jayden asked. Max shrugged. "I'm not sure." She looked to the side, desperately wanting Jayden to look at her again. "But it's our minds. Not his, right?" Max shook her head. "So we should be able to control where we are. Just need to.. push him away. Find a happy memory and hide there." She planned "Hide in the light." Jayden turned, finally keeping her eyes on Max. "You have a memory in mind?" Max nodded, a small smile creeping onto her face. "Yeah." She looked out the back window, Jayden admired her side-profile. "It was a time when I was the happiest." She looked back at Jayden.
