"Are you enjoying the party?" Selene asked.

I smiled at my best friend then nodded. I raised my daiquiri to click it against Selene's drink. 

Selene stayed with me for a while before she got pulled by a friend. She invited me to join them on the dance floor but I refused. 

Tonight is the last day for Carrack's birthday celebration. Selene planned the whole thing for her brother's thirtieth birthday. Nang pauwi na kami galing Japan ay pinilit ni Selene na ihatid kami ni Carrack sa Pilipinas. I have no idea about this surprise at nagulat na lang din ako nang sumakay na kami ng private plane papunta dito sa isla. Their friends and family are already here when we arrived. 

Carrack looked pleased with everything and it seems that he's enjoying himself. Selene even managed to invite their foreign friends. 

Since we got here, hindi pa ako nagkakaroon ng pagkakataon na batiin si Carrack nang kami lang. Tapos na ang araw ng birthday n'ya kahapon at simpleng 'happy birthday' lang ang nasabi ko sa kanya dahil madami ang bumabati at kumakausap sa kanya. Hindi ko matagalan na manatili sa malapit sa kanya dahil napakadaming mga babae na mga hindi ko naman kilala ang yumayakap at humahalik pa sa kanya kasabay ang greetings nila. 

Ngayon lang din ako nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na mapag-isa dahil umuwi na ang mga pinsan ko kahapon at si Selene ay naging abala sa mga iba n'yang kaibigan na mukhang matagal n'yang hindi nakita. Ang iba ay pauwi na at last night na nila ngayon kaya tinotodo na nila ang pag-party ngayon. Sa susunod na araw pa kami uuwi. Ako, si Selene, Xyz, Quilla, Ryle at Carrack na lang ang maiiwan 'pag uwi ng mga bisita bukas nang tanghali. 

I decided to get myself a bottle of water then walk along the shore to watch the vast body of water. Umupo ako sa buhanginan at pinanood ang bawat alon na pilit inaabot ang mga paa ko. Umihip ang hangin at napayakap ako sa sarili ko. 

I chose to walk away from the party. Napadpad ako sa banda ng isla malapit sa villa na balak ipa-renovate ni Kuya para maging rest house nila ni Selene. Walang ibang tao sa paligid dahil abala ang lahat sa party sa kabilang parte ng isla kung saan ang port. 

Sa mahabang panahon, parang ngayon na lang ulit ako nakaramdam ng kapayapaan sa katahimikan. I felt at peace with myself. Sa pagtitig sa kadiliman ng karagatan, sa pakikinig ng hampas ng alon, at sa pagdama sa lamig ng simoy ng hangin ay tila ako binubuhusan ng kapayapaan. 

I have nothing to worry. I have nothing to think of. All I have is myself, and it felt peaceful. 

There's no anxiety on being alone. There's no worry on what others may think of me. There's no pressure on how others should think of me. 

I don't know how long it has been when I felt someone sat behind me. Kahit hindi ko tignan, alam ko na agad kung sino. No one else can make me feel this safe but him. Carrack wrapped his arms around me the pulled me against his body. 

I closed my eyes then leaned on his body. My chilly skin got enveloped with his warmth. He smelled of smoke and alcohol but I don't mind. 

"What are you thinking?" He whispered on my ear.

A small smile formed my lips as I felt his gentle peck on my lobe. 

"Nothing. I just feel at peace with myself," I replied then opened my eyes. I turned my head then took a glance on him. He's looking at  me like he's trying to read my soul through my eyes. I smiled at him then resumed watching the water in front.

We let ourselves got drown with the sound of the waves on the silent of the night. Mas yumakap si Carrack sa akin. Isang halik sa pisngi at naramdaman ko ang pagpatong ng ulo n'ya sa balikat ko. Marahil ay pinanonood n'ya na rin ang karagatan.
