CHAPTER THIRTEEN: Trust

The three of us sat at our usual spots on the Gryffindor Table, McGonagall got up front and was about to give a speech, which I knew what it would be all about. She silenced the whole Great Hall and everyone listened attentively

“Wonder what she’s going to say…” murmured James that was on my right

“Dunno, let’s just listen seems like it’s gonna be long.” Replied Scorpius who was on my left murmuring back

I just nodded, I didn’t want to say anything; I knew what it was all about but I decided I’ll just shut up and listen.

“Good evening to all of you,” McGonagall started “as you’ve noticed there The Daily Prophet issues aren’t coming here since this morning,”

“Really? I didn’t notice.” Said James

“That’s because you don’t read The Prophet James,” said Scorpius “we’ve been too busy.”

And we went back to listening

“-well the reason for that is, there has been a breakout in Azkaban Prison yesterday night.” The whole hall started to murmur, whispers everywhere

“What?! No one has ever done that yet! Ever!” exclaimed a fellow first year from HufflePuff

“Actually Sirius Black has,” said James “and other Death Eaters but that was when the war, so yeah no one on a normal evening I guess.”

“Wait how can we research if we aren’t allowed to go out after hours?” said Scorpius

“Technically Scorpius we really aren’t since the beginning we were breaking the rules ever since,” said James, Scorpius rolled his eyes

“No I meant how can we research if there’s a prisoner on the loose and we can’t get out of the common room.”

“No prisoner can get into Hogwarts, you can’t even apparate going in and out of it.”

“I specifically remember Sirius Black getting in here when he broke out of Azkaban.” Scorpius retorted, but before James could make up another thing so we could all look at the ‘Bright Side’ McGonagall silenced everyone once again,

“This is the reason we didn’t allow The Prophet being delivered here, we knew it would cause a panic, but not to worry everyone is safe as long as everyone stays within the school grounds, and not go out after hours and roam around,” she eyed the three of us especially me when she said that “I know you are all wondering who is this person that broke out, and I’ll not suspense you any further; he is Rodolphus Lestrange.” And once again everyone started whispering, this is why I don’t want anyone to know my true identity. Even Scorpius and James looked shocked

“Rodolphus Lestrange?” said James looking very shocked, see if I told them who my parents were they’d probably run away from me.

I specifically saw Professor Longbottom’s face go pale and harden when he heard who it was. Once again I am starting to hate myself, I looked to see everyone else’s reactions and all of them were the same, shock and fear. I looked down and felt so ashamed of myself once again self-hatred running through me. I felt my eyes stinging but did my best to stop the tears from falling. I didn’t feel like listening to McGonagall’s speech anymore, so I decided to just look down.

“Alexia?” I looked up and realized the speech was over and there was food on my plate, I looked up at James, “Are you alright?”

I nodded “Yeah, er I’m fine.”
