At the same time, Jing Yi had made his way over to the room where Leng Jin Yu and Jinde were staying. Lei Jiang had joined his wife and son as well and had been leading them through the corridors while Ai Hua chatted with Jing Yi.

Because of all the time when he had rather suddenly vanished from the Yun Zou Sect back in the mortal realm, he hadn't really been up to date with what had happened with Xiao Dong. Now hearing that he had actually been surprised by the demon king, he couldn't help but be stunned. "That must've been terrifying. I mean I encountered him myself and he is ..." He shook his head, not sure how to describe Jin Ling.

Back then, that guy had tried to pretend to be his lover from a past life, wanting to use that to hurt Qiu Ling. But at that time, even if Qiu Ling hadn't told him the truth already and he had really believed this guy to be Tian, his previous lover, he still wouldn't have gone with him because, at that time, he had already realized that no matter what promises had been made in a previous life, he loved Qiu Ling in this one.

But in any case, the demon king had still abducted him so he had gotten the chance to see firsthand how he treated people. And to be honest, he had been afraid. So to think that Xiao Dong had gotten into a similar situation ... he couldn't help but worry about him.

Xiao Dong could only smile wryly, not quite happy that his mother brought this up. Jing Yi was kind of a friend to him but first and foremost, he was his king's beloved. And he definitely didn't want to look weak in front of his king. So with Jing Yi knowing this, what would his king think of him when he found out? "It wasn't that bad. In any case, I got out of the situation. It was all thanks to my own quick thinking."

Jing Yi nodded, a little relieved that Xiao Dong had managed to do so. "Well, that's good. It's not that easy to get out of his grasp." Back then, Qiu Ling had actually tried to exchange him for somebody else. He still wasn't quite clear on what exactly the demon king had tried to do with all of that but, well, that wasn't a problem anymore anyway. That time was long past.

"Anyway, it's nice to see you again. Back then, because of my relationship with Qiu Ling, I didn't spend as much time at the Yun Zou Sect anymore so we hardly got to see each other. Do you know how Shao Hai is doing?"

Xiao Dong shook his head. "After that matter with the demon king, I just ... stayed here. In any case, my task in the mortal realm was pretty much done anyway. So I haven't really heard of him in all the time."

"Oh." Jing Yi furrowed his brows faintly, feeling that this really was somebody he had treated unfairly. It seemed like Xiao Dong had mostly been there because of the task he had gotten and not necessarily because he wanted to be in the mortal realm but Shao Hai had been different. That had been the place he grew up. He had just been a normal human but he had become a practitioner for him. And then, they had hardly spent any time together after those first five years. It seemed ... he had really turned Shao Hai's whole life upside down for nothing.

Yes, come to think of it now, if he had just stayed in the mortal realm, if he had just led a normal life as a cultivator, not focusing so much on wanting to ascend, on wanting to have a life at Qiu Ling's side in the dragon realm, then what had happened in the past few weeks would never have happened.

He could've been happy. Happy with his own life, not this borrowed one from Jing He. Down there, would he really have needed to even think about him? Probably not. Yes, this was really his own fault.

He sighed when he thought of that but at that time, they already reached the door to Jinde and Leng Jin Yu's room so he pushed the thought aside for the time being. That was probably something he could try and talk through with Qiu Ling later on.

Lei Jiang knocked on the door, his heart racing a little when he thought of standing in front of the previous dragon king again and he unconsciously straightened up before he remembered what Jinde had told him before. For him, this had to be his cousin. Why would he behave like this when he just went to see a cousin? No, he had to be more casual.

He forced himself to relax and unless a person really knew him, it wasn't as obvious anymore that he was actually quite tense.

"Come on in." The voice that sounded from inside was melodious, almost making Lei Jiang straighten up once more.

Ai Hua glanced at him, chuckling a little. "Look at you! And here people always say that I'm the one who is into pretty faces. But when it comes to your cousin, his beauty is actually able to make you behave like this. I'll have to tell everyone about it so they'll stop saying about me that I'm superficial. Your standards are just much higher than mine!" She laughed again and then opened the door, poking in her head. "Jin Yu, Jiang Li, look who's here! I also brought my son and a friend of his. I'm sure you'll know him!"

Jinde was a little confused at first but tilting his head to the side and looking through the door, he immediately spotted Jing Yi. He raised his brows, not quite sure what this was about, and waved for the lot of them to come in. "I guess before you 'show us around the palace', I'd like an explanation for this."

After all, it hadn't been that long ago that he had seen him be pulled back at the gate of the Nine Heavens' capital city. He felt that there had to have happened something big for him to be here now and without Qiu Ling at that. He'd rather know about that a little earlier.
