Cake
It always took a while to bake
Any of the different kinds of cake
To put out on the small bakery's rack
To display for all the people walking by the small bakery window
It was hard not to eat all of the extra calories
I just wanted to eat all of the guilt away
It was like a weight being pressed against my chest
I never meant to cause you any heartbreak
But I wasn't in the right headspace
For a romantic relationship
It was the best choice for me to let you go
I hope you know that wasn't what I wanted to do
Now we're both at different parts in our life
You're dating some other girl
And I'm just making another 'happy anniversary' cake
I wish these guys would just text me back
So, I could be the one buying the 'happy anniversary' cake
And eating all the extra calories
instead of being the one making them
But sadly I'm left with all these extra feeling
All I want to do is wish them away
And be able to eat my very own 'happy anniversary cake'
