Ash's POV

"Why... why are you doing this..." Serena said. She was scared. She was scared of what will happen if her mom catches her. What will happen to us when her mom knows that we were the only one who took her from her home. What will happen when she knows that I was the one who sneaked into her house.

Serena was clearly scared thinking all of these things. Now, it was my job to answer her question in perfect way, so that she feels safe here, with me. My answer will decide whether Serena wants to stay with me and if we will start a new chapter in our diary of life or will end this chapter completely.

I took a deep breath, deciding what my answer will be. I will complete my promise.

"Because you matter." I replied.

As she heard my answer, she lifted her face in surprise. I guess, she was not expecting this answer. I made a small smile.

"Now let's go." I said and we both started walking to the hilltop, hand in hand. She was surely surprised with my answer, that's why she was squeezing my hand.

I lifted my hand to see the time and noticed that only about 2 minutes were left for the fireworks to start.

"Ah, crap. We can be late. Let's go fast." I said to Serena to which she made a small nod and we both started walking faster.

After a fast walking for a minute, we barely reach before the fireworks were about to start.

"Is this the place?" she asked.

"Yes." I replied. She looked around the place and noticed that no one was there expect me and her. It was kind of the tip of the hill.

"I know this place is quite empty, but I assure you that this is the best place to see the fireworks." I said. She then turns her head, seeing the great panoramic view of the whole city. a surprised expression was clearly visible on her face.

"How is it?" I asked.

"Beautiful..." she replied. I again looked down to my watch. It 's going to start...

"Now in 3... 2... 1..." I said. Suddenly a ray bright red colour started going up in the sky. And then... BOOM! A huge rocket burst in the sky, glowing brightly red. And then, another one came, but this time, it was yellow in colour and was bigger than the previous one.

Big round, brightly coloured fireworks started launching rapidly in the sky. The sky which was just like a dark room before turned into a bright colourful open field, with blazes of different colour all around the sky.

I turned my head and Serena watching them with awe. Her beautiful face was glowing because of the colours of the fireworks. I finally completed my promise. But now, I was getting a strange feeling.

A strange feeling of bonding. A strange feeling for responsibility. A feeling of love...

Suddenly, I noticed a tear sliding from her eyes on her face.

"Serena?"

She turns her head towards me, and to my surprise, she was having tons of tears in her eyes. She suddenly then sprinted towards me and kept her head on my chest and started crying. She was crying... literally a lot.

"Serena what happened?!" I asked with tension visible in my voice. She moved back, lifted her head, wiped off her tears and smiled.

"Ash..." she said. I ignored the fireworks blowing continuously by the side and was totally focused on her.

"Thank you for this. I don't know how to describe this thing inside me, but thank you for all of this." She said and made a small smile. She then took her hand on her chest and took a deep breathe.
