Everything seemed to happen at once . Dumbledore flew down to where Harry was clutching Cedric's body.

"He's dead! He's dead!"

Anne and her friends charged down the steps. Something was very wrong, something awful had happened to Harry or Cedric---or both. When Anne reached the ground, she saw Harry, alive and sobbing, clutching Cedric, who was lying spread eagled on the ground. Cedric Diggory was dead.

"He's back! He's back!" Harry kept repeating, refusing to let go of Cedric's body. "Voldemort's back! Cedric, he asked me to bring his body back! I couldn't leave him, not there!"

"Keep everybody in their seats!" Fudge shouted on the scene. "A boy has just been killed. The body must be moved....there are too many people."

Dumbledore gently prized Harry from Cedric and led him away.

"Let me through! Let me through!" a distraught voice cried. It was Amos Diggory, Cedric's father. "That's my son! My boy!"

Seeing the older man throw himself on top of Cedric sobbing, Anne could no longer contain herself. She fled from the stadium back to the castle. She did not hear Ron and Hermione calling after her as she ran through the entrance and up several flights of stairs.

She finally stopped, sinking to the ground when she reached the Astronomy Tower. Dissociated and in shock, she sat against one of the pillars and stared out vacantly at the night sky.
