"Tu mujhe tayyar kardena Maa." Said Bondita to Sumati.
"Arey par wo ladkiyan hain na, wo achche se tayyar kar dengi tujhe." Sumati said with a smile.
"Par tune toh mujhe bachpan se sajaya hai toh aaj kyun nhi? Akhri baar he shi apni Bondita ko saja dena Maa." She urged her just as a kid does.
Sumati came and stood behind her and kept her hand on her shoulders. Bondita who was sitting before the mirror, smiled and squeezed Sumati's hands with hers.
"Janti hai Bondita, tu jab choti thi na toh humesha chudiyan pehenne ke liye zidd kiya karti thi, aur tere baba tere liye mele meinse rang-birangi chudiyan laaya karte the." She said while making her wear the red bangles and both of them chuckled.

"Aaj agar tere baba hote toh bohot khush hote." Sumati said and the scene became emotional. She now applied the aalta in her hands.

"Maa, aaj Baba humare saath nhi hain toh kya hua, wo upar se mujhe zaroor apna aashirvaad de rahe honge." Sumati smiled at her words.
"Zaroor." She said and applied kohl in her round, enchanting eyes.

"Aisa lag raha hai ki kal he ki toh baat hai ki tune pehli baar meri ungli pakdi thi, kal he toh tune pehli baar mujhe 'maa' kehkar pukara tha, kal he toh tune pehli baar mera haath pakad kar chalna seekha tha aur aaj whi haath chudakar dur jaa..." She couldn't complete as a lump had formed in her throat. Bondita squuezed her hand and smiled, she too smiled in turn.
