"welcome back" remus says not looking up from the book he's reading

i throw myself on the couch

"they all forgot my birthday, except for molly" i sigh

he softly closes his book "i'm sorry to hear that y/n, is there anything i can do?" he smiles softly at me

"no, i think i'm just going to go to bed, goodnight" i exit the main room and head upstairs. i throw myself on the bed and stare at my ceiling. i roll over and see moon laying next to me, sometimes he leaves for periods at a time, but he always makes his way back when i need him most, it's like he senses i need his comfort

i get up and change into a hoodie and shorts before crawling back into bed. moon snuggles up next me to falling quickly back asleep. i pet between his ears softly before dosing off myself

(september first)

"do you have everything?" moony asks as we bid our goodbyes at the platform

"yes yes, well not moon, he was there last night, he'll show up in a month or two i suppose" i laugh

"don't forget to write me" moony pulls me in for a hug "now go before you're late and i cry"

"bye! i love you!" i yell as i run to the train

"i love you more!" he yells back

i board the train and see ron, hermione, harry and ginny sitting in a compartment. ginny and harry seem to have grown close over the summer. i was about to walk in before ginny laid on harrys shoulder, and he did nothing, i keep walking to find a new one

"hey pretty lady need somewhere to sit?"

i turn around and see cormac standing in the entry of a compartment, two of his friends in there with him

"yeah actually, i do" i walk in and take a seat

if harry can be buddy-buddy with ginny, i can be with cormac

"did y/n just walk into a compartment with cormac?" ron asks

"yes, she did" hermione answers not looking up from her book

"what's her deal?" i ask

hermione looks up at me and rolls her eyes before reading again, i turn to ron and he just raises his eyebrows, then it clicks, ginny

luna walks in and scans the room confused

"hello harry, ginny, ron, hermione....no y/n"

"she didn't sit here" ginny replies
