Poem 9 | NIGHT FEVER

I could have sworn I saw you creeping up the dark
What do you want, driving up and down the block
You've stayed up late every night watching her like a movie
Does she star in your dreams and leave you in a place of ecstasy?

She likes to watch you watch her
In the hot evening summer, you wear cotton and she wears lace, both laying in bed with a case of night fever

I should have warned her but she welcomed you with silk sheets
Hang all your pictures up, down in the red room, where her face on the screen is up
She always wanted her photo taken
And you do, only she's mistaken

He likes to watch her watch him
In the hot evening summer, he wears cotton and she wears lace, both laying in bed with a case of night fever
Night fever but she's cooler than the sun
Night fever in the daylight, night fever c'mon let's have fun.
