Even the embers that were once the fire have faded to cold, grey ash. The Magdalene has composed herself and she invites your gaze heavenwards with an upturn of her head. The stars shine so, so brilliantly in the dark sky, and near the horizon is the sliver of a crescent moon. What loss is there in darkness? Only by immersion in the shadows of Golgotha do we see beyond the pale facade of the material form to that greater Light that shines oh so gloriously in all of Creation.
