Born during World War Two on Canada's east coast, I joined the Air Force after school and trained as a pilot, moved to the west coast and discovered mountains, making a name for myself as an exploratory mountaineer. Then restless, I transferred to the Navy to captain ships. A dozen years later, still restless, I resigned my commission to expand my wine importing business and to pursue my passions, becoming a wine and food writer and educator and Canada's chief coin geek. Restless again, I sailed off and rounded Cape Horn. Twice. 

The past few years I've been living aboard Zonder Zorg, a restored 1908 Friesian skûtsje, as I explore the European canals trying to sort out what to do when I grow up. Meanwhile, I've gone back to writing, and after publishing four nonfiction books on boating in two years, I've turned to fiction #historicalfiction #adultfiction #grownupreads . 

Though it shows below that I joined Wattpad at the end of 2015, I remained inactive until February 2017 when I began migrating here from WriteOn as Amazon shut down that superb site. Since becoming active here, I've been finding ways to use Wattpad as a platform for intelligent interaction among serious writers. I'm a Wattpad Elder Ambassador, specialising in Engagement.
