On Christmas Eve, around 1812, Pip, an orphan who is about six years old, encounters an escaped convict in the village churchyard while visiting the graves of his mother, father, and siblings. The convict scares Pip into stealing food and a file to grind away his shackles, from the home he shares with his abusive older sister and her kind, passive husband Joe Gargery, a blacksmith. The next day, soldiers recapture the convict while he is engaged in a fight with another convict; the two are returned to the prison ships from which they escaped...

my 30 something year old reading teacher couldn't even get pass this paragraph and me being a thirteen year old was able to get to chapter 4 but our school year ended and i didn't get to finish it

am i the only one who slightly feels bad for her but slightly hates her
i borrowed it from our library and when the year ended i had to return it
What people don't seem to understand is that of course the author knows it should be an eel, but he's showing us how most criminals talk!

Yes, everyone deserves to be helped but not EVERYONE likes to be pitied. Their are people who would want to share their stories in a funny way just because they want to open up without it seeming too serious. Chill up, world.
