A 12-year-old thief. A fireproof shopkeeper. A card magician. A mysterious old man.

Twenty years before our story begins, a scroll was created by none other than Grand Mage Athael. He called it the Ng Ey, and it was famously blank. Indecipherable. That is, until young master-of-disguise Kellyn happened upon it and saw something.

As he turned the multicolored case in his hands, he spotted the label, which simply read, 'for young eyes only'. His brow furrowed. He opened the case and spread the paper on the pedestal, and his eyes narrowed further. The text, while still written in gold and composed of incomprehensible words, was arranged into paragraphs. It began with a small header followed by a comma, and there was a name signed at the bottom that he couldn't quite make out.

Kellyn shifted his hand and noticed a second sheet of paper behind the first. This one used varying shades of gold ink, from lighter yellow to almost brown. Given the boxy, graphical nature of this sheet's contents, it seemed to be a map, but its markings were still in the mage language.

"Theaza!" a muffled voice snapped, seemingly from below. Kellyn jumped. "Don't touch that!" He peered around the pedestal and noticed a loose scroll wedged into the floorboards, but nothing more.

Time was of the essence. He stuffed the scroll back into its case, satcheled it, and hurried out of the room. The sound of ricocheting water crashed back into the foreground, and he started to run.

I refused to answer him as I continued to try and break out of his iron-like grip. "Let me go," I whispered breathlessly. I felt the vibration of his laugh on my back. "Now, why would I do that little one? You're mine." ''Wh-what n-n-no you're not let me go now," I said as I dug my fingernails into his forearms. His calm composure was gone as he slammed my body against a nearby wall. I whimpered lightly. He responded roughly. "I'm not going to say this again, little one. You are testing my patience. I'm not afraid to put you in your place. You aren't leaving me; you are mine!!! Do I make myself clear?!!!" I felt tears stream down my face as I responded with a nob. He didn't seem pleased with this "answer with your words, dammit," he screamed. "Yeah, I understand, I said shakily. He smiled at me, brought his lips up to my check, and kissed me. "Okay, let's go, "he said with a light smile, grabbing my hand in an iron-like grip. A car stopped near me, and he opened the door, trying to pull me in. I quickly came to the realization what was happening, and I ran away from him. However, he easily caught me and threw me over his shoulder. I pounded my fist against his back. It seemed to unfase him as he threw me, closed the door, and looked hard at me. I sank down at his glare. "Go, Andrew," the strange man called out. After a while, his anger seemed to dial down, and he then sighed, running his hand through his brown hair.

'They pulled the chair across from me out and sat in it. The tavern carried on when the figure made themselves comfortable. My grip tightened on the hilt of the dagger. They pulled the hood of their cloak off and unclasped it. Their movements were relaxed and unhurried. I ran my eyes over him. He had strange black, swirling tattoos on his neck and long, pointed ears. His clothes were plain. I crossed my arms and sat back in my seat, keeping my eyes on his piercing midnight blue ones. He cocked an eyebrow. "Well?" I narrowed my eyes. "Well, what?" "What's your business here?" "I should be asking you that, considering you silenced a room by being in it." "Fair enough." He paused as the bartender brought another tankard over. "I'm looking for a travel companion." His voice was as deep as the shadows surrounding us. "You're an elf... Don't they prefer to travel on their own?" "Fae," he corrected as he pulled a pipe out of thin air. A black wisp of smoke surrounded his hand as he did so. "But yes, we do. I, however, have had enough of my thoughts being my only company." I nodded. "So?" He raised his eyebrows. I shook my head sadly. "This is something I need to do. Alone." "Alright." He looked a bit disappointed, which was odd, considering we had just met. ' What happens when you're going to kill the Unnamed One and meet a mysterious fae on your journey? Do you trust him, or leave him? And what do you do when you find out what he's been hiding? Iowyn Aedithas is on a quest to save her guild. A quest that could potentially be lethal for her. She's an awfully brave (some would say naive) human to be doing this. Demons have been attacking her guild, and she's had enough. She meets Evaris, the mysterious fae, on her journey and he becomes her travel companion. When they reach their destination, he reveals information that's previously been held close.

Siderion is mere minutes away from becoming a member of the Order and earning his first rank stripe when Serkha City is attacked and his life is changed forever. Thrown away from everything he holds dear, he must scramble for answers as his moral ground shifts under his feet. In a world full of mages and monsters, nothing is safe. - - - - - - - - There were lots of other mages gathered in the plaza, addressing the arkaetres they had ridden with curt nods or short dialogue. The doors to the building were big enough for even the largest dragon to enter, but still only a small imperfection in the huge structure. I knew the door was the size of a dragon because I could see one to compare it to, flying above the dome. Then I realized that the dragon was black. "Dad? Look up there." He looked up and cocked his head in confusion. "I've never seen anything like that before." The beast was quite high in the sky and didn't look particularly threatening, but it still spooked me to see an arkaetre that wasn't white. After watching the shadowy dragon for a few more moments, my dad said slowly, "It seems like they have no rider. We should probably tell the Council about this." I nodded and followed him inside the dome. "But what about the opening ceremony?" I asked nervously, looking down at my watch. "We've got some time." - - - - - - - - Remember to comment and vote for the chapters you enjoy! Any and all feedback is appreciated. BOOK 1 Mage Chronicles: The Beginning. New world, New family, New friends... and enemies, Multiple mates? Kidnap, murder. A crown she wasn't ready to wear or wield. And a toddler to boot. Getting kicked out of the dance team, moments before the start of a tour she had planned and choreographed was beginning to look like the least of Mahina's worries. ******************* Hey! Mean! --*hic*-- Don't hit me! --*hic*-- That's going to --*hic*-- Hurt so bad when I ---*hic*-- Wake up." Later I would question how the hell I wasn't panicking at that moment because the shadows were clearly there to kidnap me or even kill me. "Be still!" I huff in frustration. "You keep moving and blinking in and out! Oh God is your power running out? We could plug you in. I have plenty of outlets in my room." "I know I'm going to regret asking, but how would you plug as in?" asks Shadow B. "Simple, the outlet has holes and you have... things that can go into those holes, though I don't think you would fit...I hope you don't fit because that would be just sad for you... we would have to use your fingers. Yes! That is an awesome idea let's go." "Sleepover with the shadows!" I yell raising my arms in the air which causes me to stumble. "Oh, for fate's sake! Knock her out damn it, those heir boys will be back any minute, that distraction won't last long," One of the shadows grumbles, I'd bet it was the asshat who didn't like me.
