The Lost and the Found
"Vega." I whisper.
"Vega." I whisper again.
Not a word. I close my eyes and take a breath.
"He killed everyone I loved, then, tried to kill you. I can't lose you. Cassy, you keep me grounded. I don't want to be lost again." He says, emotion thickening in his voice with tears rolling down his cheeks.
I walk over to him and sit in his lap. I put my hands on his cheeks and make him look into my eyes. More tears roll down his cheeks.
"Don't leave me, Cassy." Vega whispers.
"I'm not leaving you."
"But, your family-!" He says, shocked.
"My family has nothing for me. I have a power hungry mother, an alcoholic father, and two siblings that want to be just like my mother. Nothing."
"You're not leaving me? After everything I've done to you?"
"No. What you did to me was out of anger and depression. It's okay, I forgive you. You see, Vega, you were lost before but, you're okay now because I've found you."
Fresh tears spill over and on to his high cheekbones. He puts his forehead on mine.
"I love you, Cassiopeia." Vega says, voice wavering.
"I love you too, Vega."
